POSITION OBJECTIVE<\/span><\/p>\n

The Study Abroad Advisor reports to the Executive Director for\u00a0International Affairs. Responsibilities include recruiting students for\u00a0study abroad programs, advising students on study abroad options, assisting\u00a0students in applications and credit procedures, tracking study abroad\u00a0students, and assisting with risk management procedures. Additional\u00a0responsibilities include identifying new study abroad opportunities and\u00a0identifying grants to support study abroad programs.<\/p>\n

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Develop and facilitate efforts and events to encourage students to\u00a0study abroad, promote the importance of study abroad, and to further the\u00a0goals of the Office of Education Abroad.<\/li>\n
  2. Advise students interested in study abroad and assist them in\u00a0identifying appropriate programs.<\/li>\n
  3. Recruit students for faculty led short-term study abroad programs.<\/li>\n
  4. Assist students as they progress through the application,\u00a0preparation, departure, and returning stages of their study abroad\u00a0experience.<\/li>\n
  5. Track student numbers on study abroad programs.<\/li>\n
  6. Identify grants and alternate funding sources to support study abroad\u00a0and exchange students.<\/li>\n
  7. Assist in the development of new study abroad and exchange programs.<\/li>\n
  8. Conduct some site visits of international partners and assist in\u00a0developing risk management procedures.<\/li>\n
  9. Be available and responsive in the event of a crisis.<\/li>\n
  10. Work with the faculty and staff to develop and implement new study\u00a0abroad programs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS<\/span><\/p>\n

    • Perform other duties as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      CONTACTS<\/span><\/p>\n

      Department: Regular contact with department staff.<\/p>\n

      University: Frequent contact with other school administrators regarding
      \nquestions to study abroad programs and opportunities.<\/p>\n

      External: Occasional contact with international exchange institutions.<\/p>\n

      Students: Frequent contact with students regarding study abroad
      \nopportunities and guidance.<\/p>\n

      SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY<\/span><\/p>\n

        \n
      • No direct supervisory responsibility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        QUALIFICATIONS<\/span><\/p>\n

          \n
        • Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in student services and\/or study
          \nabroad advising (experience living and working overseas is desired).<\/li>\n
        • Education\/Licensing: Bachelor’s degree required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          REQUIRED SKILLS<\/span><\/p>\n

            \n
          • Ability to work with and facilitate communication between a\u00a0wide-variety of people at all levels within the university as well as\u00a0individuals and organizations outside the university.<\/li>\n
          • Knowledge of other cultures.<\/li>\n
          • Ability to use accounting skills with program close-outs, etc.<\/li>\n
          • Ability to learn, understand and communicate English language and
            \nculture issues and concerns.<\/li>\n
          • Marketing skills desired.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            WORKING CONDITIONS<\/span><\/p>\n
