Reporting to the Dean of International and Global Strategy, and working closely with the Office Manager, the Coordinator, International Programs and Special Projects will coordinate the activities of Barnard\u2019s international and global initiatives, including the College\u2019s annual Global Symposium. The Coordinator will serve as the Provost\u2019s Office liaison with the General Counsel\u2019s Office regarding work visas and work closely with faculty on opportunities for international research and travel with students.<\/p>\n

Essential Duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Assist in all aspects of planning and running the College\u2019s annual Global Symposium and related programming, including communication, correspondence, event planning, financial transactions, and travel arrangements.<\/li>\n
  • Serve as the liaison with the Office of the General Counsel on requirements and timing of visa filing procedures; maintain records related to faculty work eligibility and other confidential matters; and assist with training and orientation of faculty who are not U.S. citizens. Advise faculty and research associates with the preparation of documents relating to work visas.<\/li>\n
  • Conduct research concerning funding opportunities for international initiatives\/partnerships and for academic research\/programs.<\/li>\n
  • Create and maintain a database of international faculty travel, including faculty-student trips abroad. Coordinate with faculty on faculty-student research trips, including organizing funding application reviews, trip budgeting and reimbursements.<\/li>\n
  • Assist in development of protocols for faculty and provide pre-departure orientations for faculty\/student travel.<\/li>\n
  • Serve as a liaison between the Provost\u2019s Office and the Dean of the College office.<\/li>\n
  • Create, update and maintain websites and social media publications related to international and global programs at Barnard including, but not limited to, Facebook page and YouTube channel.<\/li>\n
  • Create, update and maintain publications (print and online) related to international and global programs at Barnard, e.g., faculty newsletter<\/li>\n
  • Compile data, create reports, and maintain records regarding the College\u2019s international education programs, global initiatives, related agreements and memoranda, and other College programs.<\/li>\n
  • Assist with the budgetary planning and administration of operating and grant-based funds for international and global initiatives. Maintain budgets, bills and expense reports.<\/li>\n
  • Participate in special projects for the Provost\u2019s Office.<\/li>\n
  • Perform other duties as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • Strong verbal and quantitative skills.<\/li>\n
    • Ability to work independently with meticulous attention to detail, to handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, to set priorities, and to meet deadlines.<\/li>\n
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with faculty, administrators, students and the public.<\/li>\n
    • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing<\/li>\n
    • Ability to exercise sensitivity, tact and judgment. Understand and maintain confidentiality.<\/li>\n
    • Ability to remain professional, calm and flexible under pressure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Required Qualifications<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Bachelor\u2019s degree with minimum 2 years\u2019 related administrative experience.<\/li>\n
      • Excellent computer skills and ability to acquire new skills as required. Experience with Word, Excel, web technology and social media platforms.<\/li>\n
      • Experience working with international faculty, staff & students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Preferred Qualifications<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

          \n
        • Knowledge of one or more foreign languages<\/li>\n
        • Experience with visa processing and\/or the SEVIS<\/span> system<\/li>\n
        • Experience working in a higher education environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
