This position provides support mainly to high school students participating in the U.S. Department of State YES, FLEX, and A-SMYLE sponsored scholarship programs, which provide high school students from countries with significant Muslim populations as well as students from the former Soviet Union, Serbia, and Montenegro with the opportunity to spend one academic year attending an American high school and living with an American host family. The Student Support &amp; Supervision Manager provides support to students who are struggling with serious disciplinary issues or mental health issues or are having significant difficulty adapting to American culture or host family life.<\/p>\n<p>PAX is a non-profit educational organization that provides global education and exchange opportunities for students, host families, schools, and communities to open doors, embrace cultures, and become family. PAX believes that this mission is served by providing young people with the opportunity to study abroad and live with a host family for an extended period of time. Each year approximately 1100 high school students participate in international exchange through PAX. While PAX has a global vision, the organization works one student at a time. Committed to a quality program that is small and personal, PAX works exclusively with high school exchange. PAX headquarters in Port Chester, NY are conveniently located a short walk from the Port Chester Metro-North rail station, 50 minutes from Grand Central or 15 minutes from Stamford.<\/p>\n<p>*Key Responsibilities:* <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><!--more--><br \/>\n\u2022 Provide support to the exchange program team on student cases that involve serious disciplinary issues, mental health issues, medical issues, allegations of abuse, or ongoing adaptation issues that have not resolved after initial interventions from the student\u2019s local coordinator and regional director<br \/>\n\u2022 Manage disciplinary and other supervision cases to resolution; gather relevant information from all parties involved, coordinating efforts with other team members; prepare recommendations consistent with program policies and regulatory requirements; coordinate disciplinary committee meetings; document decisions accurately and ensure student case files and other records are properly maintained and organized<br \/>\n\u2022 With guidance from Support &amp; Supervision Director, communicate with the U.S. Department of State and partner organizations on student supervision matters as well as medical and mental health issues involving scholarship students<br \/>\n\u2022 Draft incident reports, student file notes, probation and disqualification letters, and other reports as needed; ensure that communication with all external audiences demonstrates organization\u2019s responsible management of participant support<br \/>\n\u2022 Provide 24-hour emergency on-call support to participants, sharing on call duty with the Support and Supervision Director<br \/>\n\u2022 Perform site visits to students, host families, and community coordinators as needed and submit required site visit reports<br \/>\n\u2022 Assist with student orientation workshops and provide field staff with training on scholarship program supervision-related issues<br \/>\n\u2022 Manage scholarship program participant support and program evaluation surveys; review monthly student survey submissions and follow up on any issues noted<br \/>\n\u2022 Ensure compliance with Department of State regulations, CSIET standards, scholarship program guidelines, and PAX policies and procedures.<\/p>\n<p>*Qualifications:*<br \/>\n\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree and 3-5 years previous work experiencw<br \/>\n\u2022 Excellent interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication ability<br \/>\n\u2022 Organized and detail-oriented with superior analytical and problem solving skills<br \/>\n\u2022 Demonstrated ability to work productively under pressure and the ability to be flexible, adapt to changing situations, and take direction well<br \/>\n\u2022 Experience working with high school students preferred<br \/>\n\u2022 Experience in international exchange, education, or related field preferred<br \/>\n\u2022 Experience studying or living abroad or working with diverse cultures preferred<br \/>\n\u2022 Previous exposure to one or more cultures relevant to the Department of State sponsored scholarship programs a plus (most scholarship students come from the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and the former Soviet Union)<br \/>\n\u2022 Familiarity with US Department of State regulations and CSIET standards governing high school exchange programs a plus<br \/>\n\u2022 Experience in youth counseling and\/or training in counseling, mental health, and eating disorders a plus<\/p>\n<p>*How to Apply: *<br \/>\nSubmit cover letter, resume, and salary requirements to <a target=\"_blank\">res&#8230;@pax.org <\/a>with subject header that reads: Student Support &amp; Supervision Mgr + Your Full Name.
