\nProject Coordinator<\/h1>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\nJob department\/School:<\/td>\n | Learning Center<\/b><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | FT\/PT\/Temp:<\/td>\n | Part time<\/b><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | openings:<\/td>\n | 1<\/b><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | Job Title:<\/td>\n | Project Coordinator<\/b><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | Location:<\/td>\n | Garden City, N.Y.<\/b><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n | Title Position Reports To<\/strong>: Director of Learning and Writing Centers<\/p>\n JOB SUMMARY:<\/strong><\/p>\n This Project Coordinator oversees the Mastering English Program which seeks to develop intercultural competence and idiomatic fluency in English designed for English as a Second Language (ESL) and other English Language Learning (ELL) students, particularly international students.\u00a0 The Coordinator will:<\/p>\n Liaise with cooperating schools, departments, and divisions on campus<\/p>\n Support Learning and Writing Center tutors in ELL issues<\/p>\n Conduct non-credit class meetings<\/p>\n Chaperone local trips when needed<\/p>\n RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:<\/strong><\/p>\n 1.\u00a0\u00a0 Meet with program participants in class; be available to answer questions.<\/p>\n 2.\u00a0\u00a0 Enter program participants\u2019 data into assessment tools.<\/p>\n 3.\u00a0\u00a0 Plan and arrange for program related travel, including required University paperwork.<\/p>\n 4.\u00a0\u00a0 Contribute to Learning and Writing Center training programs on working with international, ELL, and ELS students.<\/p>\n 5. \u00a0 Represent the Program at University functions and Orientations.<\/p>\n 6.\u00a0\u00a0 Contribute to any relevant grant proposals<\/p>\n 7.\u00a0\u00a0 Perform other job-related duties as assigned.<\/p>\n REQUIREMENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n 1.\u00a0\u00a0 Experience living and working abroad, particularly in a dual language context is particularly sought; TESOL degree or equivalent experience.<\/p>\n 2.\u00a0\u00a0 Strong computer skills for using Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel and E-mail.<\/p>\n 3.\u00a0\u00a0 Strong interpersonal, presentational, and intercultural skills.<\/p>\n 4.\u00a0\u00a0 Ability to be organized and pay attention to detail.<\/p>\n 5.\u00a0\u00a0 Ability to prioritize workload according to volume, urgency, etc.<\/p>\n EDUCATIONAL\/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n A TESOL Degree or comparable experience is highly desirable.<\/p>\n |
