Position Overview:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Portland Taiko seeks an Artist Staff member to join this nationally recognized, nonprofit taiko company. This new staff will join a dynamic, exciting performing group to assist with performances, school assembly programs, outreach projects, classes, workshops, and composition projects.<\/p>\n

Now celebrating its 20th<\/sup>\u00a0year, Portland Taiko (PT) is a nationally recognized leader in the emerging art form of taiko (Japanese drum). As one of a handful of professional taiko groups in the country, PT seeks a candidate with energy, motivation, and eagerness to learn about our organization. Portland Taiko is comprised of a community-based performance ensemble centered on a powerful, culturally specific art form. A dedicated group of Board, staff and volunteers works to achieve Portland Taiko’s mission:\u00a0“Through innovation and excellence in taiko, Portland Taiko affirms Asian American pride, inspires audiences, builds community, and educates about our heritage and culture.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

Applicant should have excellent taiko skills and background (3 years min. experience preferred), extensive taiko performance and teaching experience, cooperative work skills, an openness to new artistic influences and collaborations, a passion for the art form and a deep commitment to building a professional community-based taiko group.<\/p>\n

Salary will be commensurate with experience, and benefits will include medical\/dental coverage and a SEP retirement plan. Portland Taiko is an equal opportunity employer.<\/p>\n
