<\/em>Overview:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The primary role of the position is to work with international students.\u00a0The person will also serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and will\u00a0assist with monitoring students and maintaining SEVIS records.<\/div>\n
Duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n
    \n
  • Academic and Cross-Cultural Advising<\/li>\n
  • Provide advice and assistance to international students on all aspects of\u00a0their academic and cross-cultural experience,<\/li>\n
  • Assist students with internships and volunteer requirements based on\u00a0program requirements of their major or their sponsoring organization<\/li>\n
  • Assist Director of International Admission with new-student registration,\u00a0Designated School Official (DSO)<\/li>\n
  • Assist with the monitoring and maintenance of student\u2019s SEVIS records,<\/li>\n
  • Process reinstatements, transfer-out, CPT, OPT and other related SEVIS\u00a0procedures,<\/li>\n
  • Provide students with info about employment and employment restrictions,<\/li>\n
  • Provide students with information about maintaining legal F-1 student status,\u00a0Programming<\/li>\n
  • Responsible for planning and implementation of international-student\u00a0orientation<\/li>\n
  • Coordinate airport pickups, early arrivals, and housing with Student Services,<\/li>\n
  • Direct the Augustana Cultural Exchange (ACE) Ambassador Program and serve\u00a0as advisor to the Augustana International Club (AIC),<\/li>\n
  • Coordinate special activities and programming for international students\u00a0throughout the year including excursions, ACE events, AIC events, Friday\u00a0Rendezvous, and International Education Week events.<\/li>\n
  • Coordinate the Host Family and Friendship Family Programs,<\/li>\n
  • Serve as primary contact for Sponsored Student Programs (IREX, World Learning,\u00a0American Councils) and administer paperwork and programming,\u00a0Other Responsibilities Include<\/li>\n
  • Work with English Department\/Writing Center staff on ESL support program,<\/li>\n
  • Update International Student Handbook,<\/li>\n
  • Develop and maintain website with resources for international students,<\/li>\n
  • Provide annual international student report to IIE\u2019s Open Doors Report,<\/li>\n
  • Provide back-up support to Study Abroad advisor,<\/li>\n
  • Represent IPO on the Early Alert Response System (EARS) team providing\u00a0support to students with academic success issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Bachelor degree required, Masters preferred,<\/li>\n
    • Proficiency in a second language preferred,<\/li>\n
    • Position requires some nights and weekend responsibilities (programming and\u00a0conferences),<\/li>\n
    • Experience with study abroad\/work abroad programs preferred,<\/li>\n
    • Position requires familiarity with U.S. student visa \u201cF\u201d immigration\u00a0regulations, must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident as mandated by\u00a0federal regulations pertaining to Designated School Officials under Student\u00a0Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) rules,<\/li>\n
    • Demonstrated experience in ability to relate well to students, scholars,\u00a0faculty, staff, and those from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.<\/li>\n
    • Strong writing and oral communication skills.<\/li>\n
    • Experience with event planning and management,<\/li>\n
    • Experience with student retention strategies,<\/li>\n
    • Demonstrated ability to use appropriate technology to plan and implement\u00a0educational programs and services.<\/li>\n
    • Must be very organized, detail oriented, be a self-starter and have strong\u00a0time management skills.<\/li>\n
    • Ability to work well on a collaborative team as well as independently.<\/li>\n
    • Requires responsibilities for driving students to Social Security office,\u00a0airport pick-ups and to other community service organizations,<\/li>\n
    • Requires some nights and weekend responsibilities,<\/li>\n
    • Requires travel for purposes of student excursions, meetings, conferences,<\/li>\n
