full-time<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><\/em><strong>Overview:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Office of International Affairs (OIA) is comprised of a central administrative team and five programmatic units: International Student and Scholar Services, Study Abroad, AHA International, the Mills International Center, and the Global Studies Institute, which supports seven direct-reporting research centers and programs, and manages collaborative linkages to internationally oriented research, teaching, outreach, and programming units across campus.\u00a0 The Office of International Affairs is charged with coordinating University-wide international strategy and programming, offering programs and services for international students and faculty, and administering study abroad programs and exchanges.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Through the efforts of the Study Abroad staff, more than 1200 UO students study or participate in internships abroad annually, enrolling in one of 190 programs in more than 90 countries.\u00a0 About 25% of UO undergraduates study abroad sometime during their tenure at the UO.\u00a0 Study Abroad staff responsibilities include program and budget development and monitoring, student recruitment, student advising, orientations, and program evaluations.\u00a0 Fulbright and other scholarships for study and research abroad are also managed by this unit.<\/p>\n<div id=\"job_description\">\n<div id=\"body_content\">\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This full-time, renewable fixed-term position in Study Abroad Programs in the Office of International Affairs provides support to students considering and participating in overseas educational programs.\u00a0 The primary duties in this position will be to advise, interview and orient students. \u00a0Advisors also assist with Study Abroad outreach efforts, which require excellent written and verbal communication skills.\u00a0 In addition, this position will be assigned other programmatic tasks required by the unit and related to the Advisor\u2019s skill set.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Provide Student Support for Study Abroad Programs (80%)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Advise students on study abroad and internships opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Assist students with program and scholarship applications<\/li>\n<li>Screen applications and conduct applicant interviews<\/li>\n<li>Provide outreach and orientation programs<\/li>\n<li>Assist with geographic region program assignments as needed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Manage Other Programs and Projects as Assigned (20%)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Examples include the peer assistant program, orientations and re-entry activities, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree in international education or a related field<\/li>\n<li>One year experience in a higher education setting working with study abroad and\/or international internship programs<\/li>\n<li>Prior experience advising, interviewing, and orienting students in a higher education setting<\/li>\n<li>Study, employment, travel, or residence abroad<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated effectiveness in written and oral communication with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds<\/li>\n<li>Ability to handle sensitive and confidential material and make good judgments related to confidentiality<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency with contemporary computers and software applications, including but not limited to word processing, database, spreadsheet, and publication software<\/li>\n<li>Commitment to enhanced diversity and inclusion principles<\/li>\n<li>Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Master\u2019s degree in international education, public administration or a related field<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in a language in addition to English<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency with Studio Abroad database<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Salary:<\/strong>\u00a0 $32,000- $35,000 (full-time annual
