Overview:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

The Manager of Alumni Relations is responsible for the strategic development, management and supervision of the organization’s Alumni efforts with the overall goal of increasing the numbers of engaged, committed and generous AFS-USA alumni.<\/p>\n

Ideally, the Manager of Alumni Relations should be an entrepreneurial self-starter and seasoned professional with a background in alumni and\/or marketing who is a creative and strategic thinker with strong skills in building relationships.<\/p>\n

Alumni Relations will work closely with other departments, especially Development, Marketing and Communications, and Volunteer Development and Resources to ensure that the Alumni unit has the insights, strategies, and resources to meet ambitious alumni engagement and giving goals. The Manager of Alumni Relations will report to the Chief, External Relations, Development and Communications Officer.<\/p>\n

With a proven ability to cultivate, solicit and steward alumni, including donors, and work within a moves management strategy, the Manager of Alumni Relations supports the National Director of Development and Staff for the purposes of establishing and advancing AFS-USA’s strategies in alumni relations, especially alumni engagement, empowerment, leadership and support.<\/p>\n

The Manager of Alumni Relations also provides all logistical oversight for Alumni Relations reunions, signature programs and events; and affinity based alumni groups.<\/p>\n

Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Plan, implement and promote alumni outreach initiatives, events and possibly programs that support the organization’s strategic plan as well as the overall goals of the organization in collaboration with AFS-USA colleagues.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Plan an approach for, and implement, programs and projects that strategically engage alumni in strengthening programs and provide tangible benefits to alumni and current constituents (students, host and natural families, volunteers, etc.).<\/p>\n

\u2022 Serve as the ambassador charged with securing commitments from alumni to provide professional expertise and volunteer service; collaborating with colleagues in various departments including but not limited to lead management, program operations, volunteer development and resources, development, marketing and communications and other departments.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Create pathways for alumni engagement and participation that advance the goals and mission of the organization; partnering with Development to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward alumni giving.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Liaises with Board of Directors and National Council members, President’s Circle members, staff, external constituents, advisory committees, major donors, and corporate, foundation and community-based community partners on behalf of the Alumni Relations unit.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Ensure accurate and complete alumni database records, capture contact, biographical and career information of alumni via surveys, projects (e.g. alumni directory), correspondence, social media and networking, website, etc.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumni, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally and maintain communications through direct contact, email blasts, alumni web pages and portals, print publications, blogs and social networking sites, etc.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Educate current participants about alumni benefits and engage them in programs and activities.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Partner with departments to plan the growth and accessibility of career networking services for students and alumni.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Collaborate closely with development colleagues in increasing support from alumni; routinely identify and qualify alumni prospects for gifts; communicate development-related activities via written contact reports filed in Raiser’s Edge and period attendance at prospect management meetings.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Oversee and balance the budget for Alumni Relations within the annual program budget, manage existing and\/or additional alumni programs, services and communications.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Supervise interns, work\/study students, alumni volunteers, etc.<\/p>\n
