Fans of monster movies or big Hollywood blockbusters are no doubt aware that a\u00a0reboot of the famous\u00a0Godzilla<\/em>\u00a0franchise<\/a>\u00a0is due to hit theaters next month. As you might imagine for a movie featuring one of their most beloved pop culture icons, the Japanese are deeply interested in how America is going to bring their national\u00a0kaiju<\/em>\u00a0to the screen.<\/p>\n When clear pictures of the creature hit the net this week, the response was probably not what studio execs were hoping for.\u00a0Some Japanese fans are apparently calling this incarnation of Godzilla \u201cfat\u201d.\u00a0<\/strong>Ouch.<\/p>\n The pictures, released by Warner Legendary through the Los Angeles Times, were immediately picked up by fan sites here in Japan. While some commenters said this Godzilla looked stronger than his ancestor, others were not as impressed.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s so fat, I laughed.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cWhere\u2019s his neck?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s gone and supersized himself!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not surprised.
