This section is responsible for, but not limited to, the following activities within the states of California and Nevada.<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conducting political and governmental research to identify emerging developments in Japan-U.S. relations<\/li>\n<li>Assisting consular staff with learning about comparative governmental processes and developing connections with their domestic government counterparts<\/li>\n<li>Implementing creative projects to advance Japan-U.S. relations, including sister city relations and intergovernmental exchanges<\/li>\n<li>Drafting speeches and informational materials<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrated interest in American government and international relations with a Bachelor\u2019s degree or higher<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and oral communication skills with a proven ability to conduct governmental research<\/li>\n<li>High professional skills and the ability to work cooperatively with consular staff and federal, state and local government officials<\/li>\n<li>Strong organizational skills and proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applicants should submit a cover letter explaining how their skills and interests would help advance Japan-U.S. relations, a resume with references and a writing or research sample. Application postmark deadline is <strong>May 19, 2014<\/strong> with a preferred employment date starting in mid June.
