CIH is home to 30 residents on\u00a0two floors and features classroom and community spaces as well as a\u00a0fully-equipped kitchen and computer lab. The international house seeks to\u00a0engage the college community of 1,300 students with internationally-themed\u00a0programs planned and presented by residents of the house. Presbyterian\u00a0College is a private, residential, liberal arts college in a small-town\u00a0setting in upstate South Carolina. Many students live out the College\u00a0motto Dum Vivimus Servimus or &#8220;While we live, we serve&#8221; by engaging in\u00a0service and volunteer projects locally, domestically, and internationally.<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Expectations and responsibilities:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe CIH\/International Programs Intern will be responsive to the goals and\u00a0objectives of the Office of International Programs (OIP) as well as the\u00a0Office of Community Life. The primary focus is the development of an\u00a0environment that is conducive to developing and fostering an international\u00a0awareness in connection with the personal and educational growth of\u00a0students living in the International House. The person in this position\u00a0will encourage a sense of community while striving to help each student\u00a0develop his\/her potential as a person, student and member of the\u00a0international house.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, the Intern is expected to work cooperatively and\u00a0supportively with the International Programs and Community Life staff to\u00a0perform the following duties:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carol International House:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist in planning initial welcome and orientation.<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate teamwork among resident groups and encourage student active\u00a0involvement and responsibility for group tasks.<\/li>\n<li>Plan, schedule and conduct house meetings.<\/li>\n<li>Be regularly available and visible to students and meet regularly with\u00a0individual residents and groups to explain and promote policies and\u00a0programs, assess needs and community goals, learn of ideas or concerns,\u00a0and maintain confidentiality of information.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate, plan, develop, implement and evaluate a balance of\u00a0international and developmental activities (under the supervision of the\u00a0Director of International Programs).<\/li>\n<li>Foster the connection between CIH and the PC campus by assisting in\u00a0promotion of CIH events and news and identifying and collaborating with\u00a0student leaders, staff and faculty who support CIH.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Community Life<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be available for duty coverage and programming.<\/li>\n<li>Utilize and cooperate with campus security, maintenance, emergency\u00a0services and other college units as necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>International Programs:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work with OIP staff to market and promote study abroad programs.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in planning and delivering orientations for study abroad and\u00a0international students.<\/li>\n<li>Cooperate in event planning for International Education Week during the\u00a0fall semester.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in addressing international student concerns.<\/li>\n<li>Administrative duties as necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Desired Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A demonstrated interest in International Education<\/li>\n<li>Strong\u00a0communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work with a variety of people<\/li>\n<li>Creativity, energy, patience and reliability<\/li>\n<li>Good computer skills (Word,\u00a0Excel, Power Point, Access, Publisher)<\/li>\n<li>Intercultural \/ international\u00a0experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Stipend\/Other Compensation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Housing<\/li>\n<li>Monthly stipend<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Term\/Starting date: July 16, 2013 to May 31, 2014 Closing Deadline for\u00a0Applications: May 15, 2014 Applicants should submit a letter of interest,\u00a0resume, and the names and phone numbers of three references to Liz Dille,\u00a0Assistant Director of International Programs.<br \/>\nAddress: Presbyterian College, 503 S.
