JETAA will hold an information event with Teach First http:\/\/www.teachfirst.org.uk\/, the social enterprise that aims to address educational disadvantage in England and Wales. It coordinates an employment-based teaching training programme whereby participants achieve Qualified Teacher Status through the participation in a two year training programme that involves the completion of a PGCE along with wider leadership skills training.<\/p>\n

Teach First was listed in 3rd place in The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers list for 2013. Teach First is an influential charity and an increasingly powerful movement founded to address the link between low family income and poor educational attainment. Now in its eleventh year, it has played a part in changing the lives of thousands of young people.<\/p>\n

Teach First harnesses the energy, enthusiasm and drive of outstanding graduates and experienced professionals and equips them with leadership skills to enable inspirational teaching in schools in challenging circumstances across England and Wales. At the same time Teach First\u2019s two-year Leadership Development Programme gives participants the skills, experience and leadership development training to excel in careers in any field.<\/p>\n

Current Teach First participants and recruiters, who have been on the JET Programme and gained Qualified Teacher Status through Teach First, will talk about why JETs make good candidates and how to use your JET experience on the scheme. There will also be refreshments after the presentations and a chance to network with the Teach First team and fellow former JETs.<\/p>\n
