The position includes selective administrative duties and\u00a0most student advising for a wide variety of programs: Dickinson\u2019s own\u00a0long-standing semester and academic year programs, partner programs,\u00a0non-Dickinson programs, summer programs, and selected short-term\u00a0programs. In addition to the specific duties and functions outlined\u00a0below, the Study Abroad Coordinator\/Advisor plays a lead role in\u00a0outreach, individual and group advising, pre-departure orientation, re-entry programming, and training\/supervising peer advisors. The\u00a0position also serves a key role in fielding a variety of questions\u00a0regarding study abroad from many constituents (students, faculty,\u00a0administrators and parents).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Education and Experience Required:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree required; Master\u2019s degree highly preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience, including study abroad\u00a0advising and preferably in the context of a selective liberal arts college.<\/li>\n<li>Successful academic and cross-cultural experience as a study abroad\u00a0participant.<\/li>\n<li>High level of energy and enthusiasm to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.<\/li>\n<li>Command of English and at least one additional language.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and interest in student learning.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with or strong willingness to learn software such as Studio\u00a0Abroad, Microsoft Office, Moodle, Go To Meeting, Skype, and a web\u00a0CMS.<\/li>\n<li>Legally permitted to work in the United States.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Job Duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work with on-campus faculty program coordinators to recruit and orient\u00a0students.<\/li>\n<li>Advise students on study abroad options (and a few US-based\u00a0programs) that fit their academic trajectory and learning goals. This\u00a0includes information sessions and advising on credit transfer,\u00a0applications, and course selections.<\/li>\n<li>Organize and implement returnee events including forums for students\u00a0to present their learning and independent study projects.<\/li>\n<li>Review and update as needed study abroad procedures, documents and\u00a0website information.<\/li>\n<li>Serve as a liaison for advising with Residence Life, Student\u00a0Development, Admissions, and Athletics, including questions of student\u00a0suitability for off-campus study.<\/li>\n<li>Manage all documents related to advising.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain good relationships for student advising with partner programs\u00a0and study abroad providers as well as with institutions that send\u00a0students on Dickinson programs.<\/li>\n<li>Manage student evaluations of study abroad programs and provide\u00a0summary reports.<\/li>\n<li>Respond to student, faculty and parent requests for basic information\u00a0about programs and advising.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the review of student applications for off-campus study.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with cost sheets and budgets.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in selected committees as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Assist the Director of Education Abroad with other projects as assigned.<\/li>\n<li>This position is expected to supervise student peer advisors and returned student \u201cGlobal Ambassadors\u201d.
