Established in 1980, the Asian Cultural Council is a foundation supporting cultural exchange in the visual and performing arts between the United States and Asia, and between the countries of Asia. \u00a0Headquartered in New York City, the ACC maintains offices in Hong Kong, Manila, Taipei, and Tokyo.\u00a0 Its geographic purview includes an extensive area of Asia, ranging from Afghanistan to Japan.\u00a0 Grants are made in the fields of archaeology, architecture (design, theory, and history), art history, art and architectural conservation, crafts, dance, film, museology, music, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, theatre, and video.<\/p>\n

Fellowships to individuals constitute the central feature of the ACC’s grant program, with an emphasis on awards to artists, scholars and specialists for research, study and creative work. Grants are also made to educational and cultural institutions engaged in projects of special significance to Asian-American exchange.<\/p>\n

The Administrative Assistant and Coordinator of Special Programs is supervised by the Council’s Associate Director and assists senior program officers and managerial staff.\u00a0 As a full-time employee of the Council, he\/she is entitled to comprehensive employment benefits.\u00a0 Among his\/her responsibilities are administrative tasks, assisting with data-base input and management, event coordination, research, and development. He\/she will also be involved in fundraising activities, proposal writing, special events and projects, website updates, grant processing systems.<\/p>\n

BA required. A strong interest in Asian arts and culture is necessary for the job.\u00a0 Individuals who have previous work at a not-for-profit or grant-making organization is preferred.\u00a0 Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is a must.\u00a0 Familiarity with Filemaker Pro, Access, GIFTS, and\/or other database systems is a plus.<\/p>\n
