Overview:<\/b>
\nUnder the direction of the Artistic Director, and working closely with outside consultants and\/or guest curators, the Senior Film Program Officer will be responsible for the implementation of year-round film programs at the Japan Society, which includes: program planning, print booking, overall management of film\/video screening, budgeting and fundraising and financial tracking, marketing, promotion and outreach. Responsibilities also include: identifying high-profile film directors and actors to bring to the Society’s film screening events, handling public and professional inquiries related to the Society’s Film Program, supervising a part-time Film program staff member and interns\/volunteers, and working with other programming area for special events.<\/p>\n

Qualifications<\/b>
\n\u2022Vast and deep knowledge of Japanese films, including, but not limited to, classic films, contemporary films, and documentary films;
\n\u2022Bachelor\u2019s degree and a minimum of three years related working experience in a not-for-profit organization;
\n\u2022Previous experience in non-profit screening of 35 mm, 16 mm, and digital formats;
\n\u2022Familiarity with and interest in international cinema, and film industry;
\n\u2022Creative self-starter;
\n\u2022Strong writing skills in English. Bilingual ability in English\/Japanese is a big plus;
\n\u2022Ability to work multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment;
\n\u2022Excellent organizational and communication skills;
\n\u2022Excellent research skills and customer services skills;
\n\u2022Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, data base Raisers Edge). Basic knowledge of Final Cut is a plus;
\n\u2022Flexible schedule to work evenings and\/or weekends to attend Film Program screenings and\/or special events.<\/p>\n
