Overview:<\/b>
\nThe Yomiuri Shimbun’s London Bureau is looking for a researcher\/assistant for 12 month period.<\/p>\n

Job description:<\/b>
\nThe post involves assisting Japanese journalists with their coverage, including:
\n* gathering background information and conducting research,
\n* monitoring breaking news via newswire services and TV\/radio broadcasts,
\n* handling media accreditation,
\n* arranging and conducting interviews and typing up transcripts,
\n* attending press conferences and writing briefing notes,
\n* liaising with various government departments and press officers in other organisations.<\/p>\n

Applicants must:<\/b>
\n* be a native English language speaker and a UK citizen,
\n* hold one or more bachelor’s or higher degrees in social sciences (political science, economics, sociology, etc), international relations\/studies, law or journalism,
\n* have a keen interest in current affairs with good knowledge in international affairs, political economy, business and sports,
\n* be an excellent interpersonal communicator and have demonstrable negotiation and persuasion skills,
\n* digitally literate,
\n* willing to work extra hours.<\/p>\n

And:<\/b>
\n* It could be a “plus” if the applicant has interest towards and\/ or experience in Japan and Japanese language ability.<\/p>\n
