Overview:<\/b>
\nSister Cities International is a nonprofit citizen diplomacy network that creates and strengthens partnerships between U.S. and international communities. We strive to build global cooperation at the municipal level, promote cultural understanding and stimulate economic development. Sister Cities International is a leader for local community development and volunteer action. We motivate and empower private citizens, municipal officials and business leaders to conduct long-term sister city programs. We believe that sister city programs involve two-way communication and should mutually benefit partnering communities.<\/p>\n

General Summary: <\/b>
\nA main service of Sister Cities International (SCI), as a membership association, is to provide grants and program opportunities for our local sister city members. This position would work directly with the President and CEO to implement grant-seeking strategy and provide the necessary research, writing, and budget management skills for successful grant capture and implementation.<\/p>\n

Duties and Responsibilities:<\/b>
\nThis position reports to the President & CEO.<\/p>\n

Grant Capture and Development<\/b>
\n\u2022Submit letters of intent and full proposals to grant opportunities that align with Board priorities and member needs;
\n\u2022Oversee individual donor campaigns, including the Annual Appeal process: draft of letter, coordinate compilation of materials and mailing;
\n\u2022 Conduct research to identify potential grant funding sources from local and nationally based private foundations, corporate foundations, and
\nfederal government agencies for operational and project-specific funding;
\n\u2022 Write, edit and format grant proposals, foundation reports and other funding correspondence;
\n\u2022 Maintain database of foundation and government donors and award files;
\n\u2022 Assist with providing educational opportunities for SCI members to help build grant-seeking capacity among the membership throughout the year and
\nat convenings;
\n\u2022 Work with the President & CEO to develop grant-seeking strategy;
\n\u2022 Manage current relationships and identify and approach new prospects for cultivation and solicitation;
\n\u2022 Oversee event-specific sponsorship outreach for all SCI events;
\n\u2022 Assist President & CEO with improving SCI\u2019s visibility on Capitol Hill and within Federal agencies by coordinating meetings and materials
\nthroughout the year;
\n\u2022 Additional tasks as needed.<\/p>\n

Qualifications:<\/b>
\n\u2022Proven success in securing foundation, government, and corporate funding;
\n\u2022Experience in collaborating with finance and program teams in the preparation of program budgets, budget modifications, and preparation of
\nfinancial reports;
\n\u2022Detail-oriented individual with the ability to plan, prioritize and coordinate multiple projects and work with minimal supervision;
\n\u2022Solid inter-personal skills to manage relationships with SCI members, donors, and staff.
\n\u2022Working knowledge of budget preparation and management;
\n\u2022Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience with the “full-cycle” grantee process. Master\u2019s Degree preferred but not required;
\n\u2022Knowledge of MS Word and Excel required.<\/p>\n
