The primary focus is on promoting the MSC concept and certification programme to potential clients and increasing the support for the programme across a broad range of interest groups and stakeholders. The position supports clients as needed both during the MSC fishery assessment process and following fishery certification. Additional work will include research and analysis, understanding target fisheries and commercial linkage within those fisheries, relationship building, making presentations as needed, and essentially selling the MSC concept and use of the ecolabel to potential clients.<\/p>\n<p>The job holder will be part of the MSC\u2019s Asia and Pacific regional team and will participate in the collective strategic planning and development of the organization in the region.<\/p>\n<p><b>Skills Required:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>5 or more years of relevant experience in fisheries management, assessment, research or consultancy.<\/li>\n<li>Extensive knowledge of Japanese fisheries, and the seafood and fishing industries, with existing contacts and networks highly desirable.<\/li>\n<li>Relevant postgraduate degree, diploma or equivalent \u2013 a fisheries science or fisheries management qualification is an advantage.<\/li>\n<li>Evidence of an ability to successfully manage relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and collaborators, with a people-centred approach to business and work essential.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to travel on a regular basis, to work irregular hours, and to work effectively while traveling.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated proficiency in English.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated excellence in selling an idea or concept and winning support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The post holder will need be a strategic thinker, able to grasp complex and intellectually challenging ideas and communicate them to people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
