Excellent writing skills, international experience and superb attention to detail are required to support our mission of facilitating U.S. private sector engagement in the APEC and in support of our work as Secretariat to the U.S. representatives to the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC).\u00a0 The Program Associate will provide support for the Center&#8217;s role as U.S. ABAC Secretariat, as well as coordinate the Center&#8217;s communications functions.<\/p>\n<p><em>To Apply<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p>Please submit a cover letter, resume, and three references with phone numbers by February 27, 2009 to Linda Eng, Email: info @ ncapec. org.\u00a0 NOTE: Only materials delivered by e-mail will be accepted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>No telephone calls or personal office visits, please.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>************ ********* ********* ********* ****<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Position Highlights<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>APEC Business Advisory Council Support<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Assist in the development and coordination of ABAC USA outreach events with the government and private sector <em>(DC Outreach events, State Department CEO Roundtable, NCAPEC Executive<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Roundtable);<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Monitor the development of issues related to the ABAC&#8217;s agenda and prepare written summaries;<\/li>\n<li> Identify opportunities for private sector participation in APEC events;<\/li>\n<li> Prepare briefing materials for ABAC meetings, ABAC USA outreach events and other APEC meetings as necessary;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li> Draft letters, e-mails and other communications on behalf of US ABAC Members;<\/li>\n<li> Undertake special projects and surveys as directed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Communications<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Draft and organize submissions for the Center&#8217;s monthly e-mail update for members;<\/li>\n<li> Design layout for the Center&#8217;s quarterly newsletter and develop\/maintain distribution lists;<\/li>\n<li> Design and produce other announcements and publications as required;<\/li>\n<li> Manage the National Center&#8217;s online presence and programming content.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Other<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The National Center for APEC maintains a small professional staff. The candidate will be expected to perform routine staff functions not listed above as necessary. This position may also involved domestic and international travel.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Requirements<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Qualified candidates will possess a four-year college degree, 3-5 years relevant work experience, and an understanding of U.S.-Asia-Pacific trade and economic affairs. The work demands excellent writing skills, a high level of comfort with computer word processing and database programs, excellent attention to detail, the ability to handle multiple tasks at once, and the ability to organize and manage work streams independently under time constraints. Knowledge of web design and HTML, familiarity with U.S.-Asia-Pacific business and trade issues, and experience living, working, or traveling in the Asia-Pacific region are all desirable qualifications for the position.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Compensation: <\/em><\/strong>Commensurate with experience.
