CALL FOR PROPOSALS: RESEARCH TRAVEL GRANTS, SPRING DEADLINE \u2013 FEBRUARY 10<\/b><\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

The TCJS\u00a0provides grants to Duke, NCSU, and UNC faculty and graduate students to help defray the costs of research-related travel to Japan.<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

GRANT AMOUNT:<\/i><\/strong> up to $2,500 for travel and accommodation. Please note that the Japan Foundation, which funds this award, asks us to adhere to the following split: $100 for travel in the US, $900 for international airfare,$250 for local travel within Japan, and $1250 for accommodation and meals in Japan. Some small divergence from these amounts is allowed, but no more than 20%.<\/i><\/p>\n

PRIORITY GIVEN TO:<\/i><\/strong>\u00a0TCJS\u00a0faculty members; faculty who have not received travel support from the TCJS recently; junior faculty members<\/i><\/p>\n

DEADLINES:<\/i><\/strong> The spring application deadline is February 10. Travel must be completed, and all reimbursement paperwork submitted through your home department, by August 20.<\/i><\/p>\n

TO APPLY:<\/i><\/strong> Please submit a proposal with:<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0– A statement of your funding needs, including the cost of transportation, lodging, and registration. Please state any other funding sources available.<\/i>
\n\u00a0– A one paragraph abstract (100 words or less)<\/i>
\n\u00a0– A fuller description of the project (max. 2 pages)<\/i>
\n– An estimated budget including, if applicable, other funding sources.<\/i><\/p>\n

The proposals will be reviewed by the Executive Committee. Each recipient is required to submit a short summary of the research accomplished with the grant by August 20, 2013<\/i>. <\/i><\/strong>The funds awarded must be used by August 20, 2013.<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n
