Overview<\/b>
\n\u00b7 Amazon is looking for a visual web design contractor with a background in retail websites to work on Amazon.co.jp (Amazon Japan).
\n\u00b7 We are looking for a person who has Japanese language skills (speaking, writing, and reading) to communicate with Japanese business team in Tokyo through emails and phones on a daily basis.
\n\u00b7 Candidate must have web design experience in the Japanese market with full knowledge of Japanese typography, trends and culture to deliver strong visual solutions unique to the Japanese customers. The position is based in Seattle.
\n\u00b7 We need a highly motivated, self-directed, enthusiastic person with a sense of humor and a sharp mind who works well under pressure and can thrive in an atmosphere of rapid development.
\n\u00b7 Candidate must be comfortable working within existing style guide conventions, and be willing to work collaboratively, but also have a strong individual sense of aesthetics and be able to bring tasteful, stylish, high-class ideas to the table.
\n\u00b7 Successful candidates will provide a strong portfolio, and demonstrate excellent web interface and visual design skills.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities<\/b>
\n\u00b7 Collaborate with senior designers as well as usability, development, and business teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, on-brand graphic solutions to build a superior customer experience for the Japanese market.
\n\u00b7 Produce sketches, graphics, templates, layouts, themes, typography, and visual standards for merchandising or promotion throughout the retail web process.
\n\u00b7 Provide and manage design documentation, style guides, and specifications
\n\u00b7 Proactively manage time and deadlines.<\/p>\n

Basic Qualifications<\/b>
\n\u00b7 Must be able to pass a 7 year criminal background check
\n\u00b7 Ability to communicate in English and in Japanese.
\n\u00b7 At least one year experience in designing for retail web sites in the Japanese market.
\n\u00b7 Design degree and\/or 4-year college degree preferred.<\/p>\n

Preferred Qualifications<\/b>
\n\u00b7 Mastery of the principles of design, color theory, and graphics file creation optimized for the web.
\n\u00b7 Photoshop, MS Office, HTML required; and Fireworks, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, CSS preferred.
\n\u00b7 Illustration skills, Flash, JavaScript, and DHTML experience a plus.
\n\u00b7 Approach design solutions with knowledge of cultural sensibilities and differences in style and customer expectations unique to the Japanese market.<\/p>\n
