Our vision is to help create a future generation of Japanese and Americans, a TOMODACHI generation, of driven doers, thinkers and creators who are invested in the future of U.S.-Japan relations with an appreciation of each other\u2019s culture and countries and with global skills and mindsets.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>OVERVIEW OF ROLE<\/strong><br \/>\nWorking under the direction of the Executive Director of TOMODACHI, the Marketing Specialist plays a critical role in developing and implementing a comprehensive strategic marketing strategy to build and develop the profile and brand of TOMODACHI among a diverse audience, including senior corporate executives, government leaders, recipients of support, other donors and the press.\u00a0 The Marketing Specialist will work closely with teams from the U.S.-Japan Council and the U.S. Embassy in the implementation of this mission.\u00a0 This position is offered for a one-year contract, with an option for renewal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy in collaboration with the Executive Director of TOMODACHI and TOMODACHI team.<\/li>\n<li>Build and promote the TOMODACHI brand through strategic marketing opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Work directly with donors to develop new public relations and marketing opportunities for programs.<\/li>\n<li>Develop new donor relationships through sponsorships opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>Provide high-quality writing in both English and Japanese, to include press releases, website copy, Facebook and Twitter updates<\/li>\n<li>Manage relationships with partner organizations, including communication advisors, PR firms, consulting\/advertising\/design firms, and freelance writers as appropriate.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure coordination and integration of marketing and communications between TOMODACHI partners, including the U.S. State Department, the Government of<\/li>\n<li>Japan and the U.S.-Japan Council.<\/li>\n<li>Manage the use of the TOMODACHI logo, and the development and use of TOMODACHI merchandise.<\/li>\n<li>Other duties as may be assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>DESIRED SKILLS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strategic thinker with strong marketing experience, problem-solving and analytical skills.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills in both English and Japanese.<\/li>\n<li>Self-motivation and ability to excel in a fast-paced and unstructured environment.<\/li>\n<li>Exceptional organizational and project management skills, including the ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to work independently and on a team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>BACKGROUND AND TRAINING<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>5+ years experience in marketing, including experience in Japan.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with corporate marketing campaigns and brand development\/management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>TO APPLY<\/strong><br \/>\nIf qualified and interested, please contact <a href=\"mailto:opportunities@usjapancouncil.org\">opportunities@usjapancouncil.org<\/a> \u00a0by January 15, 2013.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Via JETAA DC. \u00a0Posted by Kay Monroe (Miyazaki-shi, 1995 -97).
