The Embassy offers group health insurance coverage, paid vacation and sick leave. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Candidate must be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a U.S. citizen or a U.S. Green Card holder<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Work Hours: Monday-Friday 9 a.m. \u2013 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Principal Responsibilities<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct daily news and\u00a0press release monitoring of science and technology (S&amp;T) and nuclear\u00a0energy policy issues relevant to the portfolios of the Science Section\u00a0diplomats.<\/li>\n<li>Write memos on S&amp;T\u00a0and nuclear energy conferences, lectures, Congressional hearings and\u00a0S&amp;T\/nuclear policy developments, as well as medium and long-term\u00a0research reports upon request.<\/li>\n<li>Provide English editing\u00a0services to the Science Section staff.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with\u00a0coordination and implementation of events hosted by the Science Section.<\/li>\n<li>Provide logistical\u00a0assistance for business trips to U.S. science and nuclear facilities by\u00a0diplomats and visiting delegates.<\/li>\n<li>Other responsibilities\u00a0as needed and appropriate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Requirements<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fluent in English and\u00a0proficient in Japanese.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent\u00a0communication, writing, and organizational skills.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to use computer\u00a0applications such as Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and\u00a0PowerPoint.<\/li>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree in\u00a0Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, or a related\u00a0field, or equivalent experience.<\/li>\n<li>Experience working in a\u00a0Japanese office preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge about the\u00a0U.S. legislative and budget processes preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Background or work experience in S&amp;T and\/or nuclear policy preferred.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">How to apply<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nPlease submit your resume\/CV with cover letter no later than July 31, 2012.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By Mail:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Attn: Science Section<br \/>\nEmbassy of Japan<br \/>\n2520 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20008<\/p>\n<p><strong>By E-mail:<\/strong><a href=\"mailto:sciencerecruit2012@ws.mofa.go.jp\">sciencerecruit2012@ws.mofa.go.jp<\/a><\/p>\n<p>* Inquiries will not be answered by phone or in person.
