a new unofficial JET community site<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Aloha!\u00a0 My name is <strong>Beau Mueller (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/groups?mostPopular=&amp;gid=3755102&amp;trk=myg_ugrp_ovr\">Miyazaki<\/a>-ken, 2009-11)<\/strong> and I am the founder of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jetprogram.me\">JETProgram.ME<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0&#8212; a new\u00a0unofficial community site catering\u00a0to those\u00a0in all stages of the JET process.\u00a0 With the site, we are hoping to be able to help promote the positive qualities of the JET Programme and of JETs, while fostering a sense of community and facilitating exchange.\u00a0 Being quite fed up with some of the other JET community sites that can be snarky and downright unpleasant, we put together the\u00a0site aiming for it\u00a0to be a diverse, friendly, productive and useful resource.<\/p>\n<p>To kickstart the site, we have put together an <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/jetprogram.me\/informative-article-contest\/\">essay\u00a0contest for current, former and prospective JETs<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 Basically, writers have to put together a 400-800 word essay on one of the given topics.\u00a0 After submitting the essay, the goal is to get as many Facebook likes as possible.\u00a0 The writers who get the most likes will\u00a0win cash prizes (<em>first place is $150<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>I hope many of JETwit&#8217;s readers will consider participating.\u00a0 The current deadline to pick a topic is\u00a011:59 PM\u00a0on June 30th, \u00a0JST.\u00a0 That said, if you are interested in the contest, it is highly recommended you pick\u00a0your topic soon!\u00a0 Currently, only about 10 people are signed up, so there are lots of great topics left to choose from.<\/p>\n<p>If you are at all interested in or have questions about\u00a0the site or contest,\u00a0check out the links below or feel free to\u00a0contact me at <strong>contact (at) jetprogram.me<\/strong>.\u00a0 Note that I am in Hawaii and timing might be a little funny ;)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a title=\"About JETProgram.ME\" href=\"http:\/\/jetprogram.me\/about-us\/\">More about JETProgram.ME<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a title=\"JETProgram.ME Informative Essay Contest\" href=\"http:\/\/jetprogram.me\/informative-article-contest\/\">More info about the contest<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aloha!\u00a0 My name is Beau Mueller (Miyazaki-ken, 2009-11) and I am the founder of JETProgram.ME\u00a0&#8212;
