The World Languages Coordinator provides leadership and coordination for planning, implementation, and assessment of curriculum\/instructional initiatives related to improvements in K-12 Foreign Language Program. This position reports to the Director for Curriculum and Instruction.<\/p>\n<p>RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Administration and Organization<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Ensure the implementation of the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards into the ESOL and Foreign Language Programs<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Provide leadership and\u00a0coordinates the development of a comprehensive K-12 ESOL curriculum\u00a0including knowledge of WIDA standards and assessments<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Coordinate the selection of\u00a0instructional materials, supplies, technology, equipment, and textbooks\u00a0needed to support the implementation of the ESOL curriculum<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Develops and manages a District-level budget and the Title III grant budget<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Plan, organize, supervise,\u00a0and evaluate all activities and program functions, personnel, and physical\u00a0resources of the ESOL department<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Direct the multifaceted\u00a0services, programs, and activities of the ESOL department<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Direct the completion of\u00a0multiple reports as mandated by the state DOE<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Develop short-term and\u00a0long-term goals for the ESOL department<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Collaborate with and\/or\u00a0supports schools, other offices, departments, and non-school agencies to\u00a0accomplish the ESOL department&#8217;s mission<!--more--><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Coordinate curriculum\u00a0development and implementation of instructional services for the K-12\u00a0Foreign Language Program<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Coordinate the selection of\u00a0instructional materials, supplies, textbooks, technology, and equipment\u00a0needed to support the implementation of the foreign language curriculum<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Develop essential benchmarks\u00a0and standards; Establishes procedures and guidelines to be used for\u00a0assessment purposes<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Develop and manage an annual\u00a0budget relating to the Foreign Language Program<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Assist principals in hiring\u00a0qualified ESOL and Foreign Language teachers<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Develop, implement, monitor,\u00a0and evaluate program goals and initiatives<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>EDUCATION<\/strong>:<br \/>\nMaster&#8217;s Degree in Applied Linguistics, TESOL, foreign language, English, or reading required<\/p>\n<p><strong>WORK EXPERIENCE<\/strong>:<br \/>\nMinimum 2 years supervisory experience and 3 additional years of classroom experience teaching ESOL or foreign language required; must have experience in second language acquisition and curriculum development<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications<\/strong>:<br \/>\nExperience in the administration of budgets<br \/>\nCentral office experience and experience working in a large K-12 environment<\/p>\n<p><strong>CERTIFICATIONS<\/strong>:<br \/>\nMust Hold or be eligible for Georgia Teaching, Leadership, or Support Certification<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to JET alum Jessica Cook (who works for the Consulate in Atlanta) for sharing this JET relevant opening.
