When I visited Shirakawa-go over the long weekend in January, I found H\u00eeragi, a cute restaurant along the snow-covered the vehicle-access road to the lookout point in Ogimachi, Shirakawa-go. I was intrigued, of course, because one of my favorite kanji is \u67ca (h\u00eeragi<\/em>), holly<\/em>, because the radicals mean tree-winter<\/em>. What sealed the deal was the menu: I wanted to introduce my friends to h\u00f4ba miso yaki<\/a><\/em>\uff08\u6734\u8449\u5473\u564c\u713c\u304d), and they wanted to try Hida beef<\/a> (\u98db\u9a28\u725b).<\/p>\n
