{"id":19292,"date":"2011-05-15T22:10:18","date_gmt":"2011-05-16T02:10:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jetwit.com\/wordpress\/?p=19292"},"modified":"2011-05-16T07:17:08","modified_gmt":"2011-05-16T11:17:08","slug":"group-project-local-japan-tourism-websites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jetwit.com\/wordpress\/2011\/05\/15\/group-project-local-japan-tourism-websites\/","title":{"rendered":"Group Project:  &#8220;Local Japan&#8221; tourism websites?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Question<\/span>: <\/strong>Do you know of any Japanese prefectures, cities, towns, regions, etc. that have their own <strong>tourism website in English<\/strong>?\u00a0 (e.g., <strong>Shimane Prefecture<\/strong>:\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/visitshimane.com\/\"><strong>http:\/\/visitshimane.com<\/strong><\/a>)\u00a0 Or even their own English language website that might be helpful in some way to potential tourists?\u00a0 And if not, do you have time to look some up?<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Your help needed<\/span>:<\/strong> Please either post the locations and URLs in the comments section below.\u00a0 Or email the information to <strong>jetwit [at] jetwit.com<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Goal<\/span>:<\/strong> To gather in one place a list of as many English language tourism sites for Japan as we can find.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Background<\/span>:<\/strong> One more thing the JET alumni community can do to increase the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/jetwit.com\/wordpress\/category\/jet-roi\/\"><strong>Return on JET-vestment<\/strong><\/a>&#8221; by helping to promote tourism to Japan, especially to more local and regional areas.\u00a0 I thought about this when I stumbled on the <a href=\"http:\/\/visitshimane.com\/\">visitshimane.com<\/a> website and realized that there must be a bunch of other Japanese prefectures and local governments that have set up sites to encourage tourism.\u00a0 In addition to gathering and posting them all in one place on JETwit, I thought it would also be great if every time we list a JET alum along with prefecture and years on JET (e.g., Steven Horowitz, Aichi-ken, 1992-94), we can hyperlink the prefecture and\/or town to the appropriate tourism site.\u00a0 This will help drive more traffic to those sites and also provide additional linkbacks, which are valuable to a website with regard to search engine optimization.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks for everyone&#8217;s help with this collaborative effort.\u00a0 <em>Yoroshiku onegaishimasu.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>p.s.\u00a0 I checked with Japan National Tourist Organization (JNTO) as well as CLAIR and as far as I can tell there&#8217;s no previously existing version of this kind of list.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Question: Do you know of any Japanese prefectures, cities, towns, regions, etc. that have their own tourism website in English?\u00a0 (e.g., Shimane Prefecture:\u00a0 http:\/\/visitshimane.com)\u00a0 Or even their own English language website that might be helpful in some way to potential tourists?\u00a0 And if not, do you have time to look some up?
