She starts<\/strong><\/em><em><strong> her day by watching Fujisankei\u2019s newscast in Japanese, and here she shar<\/strong><\/em><em><strong>es s<\/strong><\/em><em><strong>ome of the interesting tidbits and trends together with her own observations.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s recovery efforts continue to take place, and while it is easy to feel helpless in the face of the disaster&#8217;s aftermath we can each help out in our own small way.\u00a0 I would like to highlight some upcoming events that will enable you to contribute to the cause <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/nysra.org\/associations\/2487\/files\/Dine%20out%20for%20Japan_final_1_Page_2.smallcropped.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"233\" height=\"176\" \/>while enjoying good food and music.<\/p>\n<p>First up is <a href=\"http:\/\/nysra.org\/displaycommon.cfm?an=1&amp;subarticlenbr=300\">Dine Out for Japan Relief<\/a>, a week-long event in which the 70+ participating restaurants are donating 5% of their proceeds to Japan&#8217;s tsunami recovery and relief efforts.\u00a0 There are many familiar Manhattan Japanese favorites like<!--more--> Ippudo and Sakagura, as well as some stellar non-Japanese restaurants such as ABC Kitchen and Bar Basque.\u00a0 So if you are planning a meal out between now and March 30, why not feel good about supporting Japan at the same time?<\/p>\n<p>On the entertainment side, here are two events you won&#8217;t want to miss.\u00a0 First is <a href=\"http:\/\/happydoll.org\/2011\/03\/20\/save-the-date\/\">Stand With Japan<\/a>, a charity concert for the earthquake and tsunami victims featuring 20 different artists.\u00a0 Tickets for this concert which will be held next Tuesday, March 29, at 8 p.m. are $40 and can be purchased <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fundraiser7.com\/displayEvent.php?event=315\">here<\/a>.\u00a0 The second event is a <a href=\"http:\/\/lepoissonrouge.com\/events\/view\/2170\">benefit concert for Japan from pianist Taka Kigawa<\/a> next Saturday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m.\u00a0 Tickets can be purchased on the website or by calling <span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Helvetica,Arial;\">866 55 TICKETS. <\/span>Both Taka and Nozomi Terao, head of the <a href=\"http:\/\/happydoll.org\/about\/\">NPO Happy Doll<\/a> sponsoring the first charity concert, are personal friends so any support you can give them as well as the cause is much appreciated!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WITLife is a periodic series written by professional Writer\/Interpreter\/Translator Stacy Smith (Kumamoto-ken CIR, 2000-03).
