About Hope Letters:<\/strong><\/p>\n

David Chan of Ottawa, Canada has started a voluntary initiative to share letters of hope written for students in Japan by people around the globe. Letters will be collected, translated into Japanese, posted on the following site: http:\/\/hopeletters.wordpress.com<\/a>, and distributed via Japanese media and local schools\/organizations. Currently there are 6 volunteer translators across Canada.<\/p>\n

From David:<\/p>\n

Since starting this initiative last weekend, I have received 200 letters and numerous schools in the US, Canada and the UK are sending in more to me (I expect hundreds more). A lot of people around the world want to help but cannot donate or are not relief workers. So writing letters is the least they can do to try to cheer up Japanese children and relief workers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Request for Volunteers & Distribution suggestions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hope Letters is looking for volunteers to bring the Hope Letters to their assigned or former assigned school, especially in affected regions. Interested volunteers need only get in touch via email. They can help a lot by letting the students know of the translated letters posted online, or reading them together.<\/p>\n

They are also interested to hear suggestions of any other ways for these heartfelt and translated letters to reach students in Japan.<\/p>\n
