Overseas investment bank in the City requires an exceptional individual to join their Corporate Planning\/Public Relations team. Fluency in Japanese and English is required for this role.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Main Job Functions & Tasks:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Pro-active and re-active media relations, promoting and protecting the firm’s reputation.<\/li>\n
  • Negotiating and managing advertising positions.<\/li>\n
  • Updating and managing the firm’s intranet.<\/li>\n
  • Managing the firm’s website<\/li>\n
  • Annual report writing, working with design agencies.<\/li>\n
  • Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.<\/li>\n
  • Ad hoc administrative duties.<\/li>\n

    Media relations:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Responding to journalist enquiries<\/li>\n
  • Writing press releases<\/li>\n
  • Pro-actively promoting the company’s experts to the press (particularly encouraging television, broadsheet and radio contacts to use our economists for comment)<\/li>\n
  • Managing the annual Press Party arrangements<\/li>\n
  • Regularly meeting with journalists (typically three times a week, sometimes post 5pm)\n<\/li>\n

    Internal communications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Maintaining and updating the firm’s intranet on a daily basis<\/li>\n
  • Writing internal communications across a broad range of subjects – ranging from quarterly financial result announcements, charity news and management messaging.<\/li>\n
  • Working with Tokyo PR to write internal newsletters, distributed to employees in overseas locations<\/li>\n

    Marketing:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Negotiating and managing advertising contracts – primarily within trade media<\/li>\n
  • Updating and maintaining the external website<\/li>\n
  • Working with Finance to produce the firm’s Annual Report<\/li>\n
  • Sourcing and ordering branded goods<\/li>\n
  • CSR – sitting on the firm’s Charity Committee<\/li>\n

    General duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Maintaining external relations with suppliers (ranging from brand suppliers for corporate gifts to design and PR agencies)<\/li>\n
  • Taking minutes for the Executive Committee (on occasion) <\/li>\n
  • Providing admin support to the Head of Department when required, in co-operation with the Assistant Manager<\/li>\n
  • Duties as required by the Department Head – this is a wide ranging role, working within a small team that reports directly to the firm’s President.<\/li>\n

    Experience and Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Experience of working within Financial Services.<\/li>\n
  • Excellent writing skills.<\/li>\n
  • Excellent Communication skills. <\/li>\n
  • Degree educated (ideally English\/History\/Languages\/Geography or Economics from a top University).<\/li>\n
  • Masters in any discipline from a leading university, would be an advantage but not essential. <\/li>\n
  • Professional Marketing qualification also desirable but not essential. <\/li>\n
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.<\/li>\n
  • Acrobat Writer and Quark Express knowledge would be a distinct advantage.<\/li>\n
  • Intranet and Internet content management systems experience also desirable.<\/li>\n
