Through this program, CGP supports projects conducted by universities, research institutions, and non-profit organizations in the United States and Japan that build partnerships in\u00a0order to develop solutions to create a more peaceful, stable, and equitable global order.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong> <\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul><span style=\"color: #000000\"><\/p>\n<li>\n<div>Minimum of a college degree in a related area;<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Strong analytical skills; the ability through questioning and informal research to understand the feasibility and implications of submitted proposals;<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Desire to think creatively, explore new ideas, and develop new networks to foster innovative program ideas and funding initiatives;<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Strong oral and written communication skills in English;<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Ability to work independently and as part of a team;<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Understanding of contemporary Japan; experience living in Japan and proficiency in the Japanese language, including translating ability, preferred.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<p><\/span><\/ul>\n<div><!--more--><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Associate Program Officer will report to the Intellectual Exchange Program Director and will contribute to the following:<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000\"> <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">1. Grant-making<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<ul><span style=\"color: #000000\"><\/p>\n<li>\n<div>Review and assess letters of inquiry and proposals, draft recommendations, and related materials;<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Communicate with grantees and grant-seekers through written correspondence, meetings, and site visits;<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Monitor on-going grants using a database program to ensure timely payments and follow-up of outstanding issues;<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Research fields to identify and monitor trends, new models, and new initiatives.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<p><\/span><\/ul>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">2.
