I am back\u00a0in Honolulu, so of course I had\u00a0to visit my favorite mochi stand,\u00a0Kansai Yamato.\u00a0 Every time I go I end up discovering something new, and this time it was\u00a0the two plump manju pictured on the right.\u00a0 The purple one was sweet potato flavored with this paste in the middle.\u00a0 The white manju was of the standard kind, filled with red bean.\u00a0 Both were quite substantial snacks,\u00a0big and filling\u00a0so the two-pack is likely meant for sharing.\u00a0 As manju, I found them heavier than the lighter\u00a0ones I am used to from Japan, as well as compared to\u00a0the steamed kabocha bread I enjoyed during my last trip.<\/p>\n

However, as much as I l\"\"<\/a>ike manju nothing beats my love for mochi, so of course I had to\u00a0get\u00a0some of those too.\u00a0 As this time I am traveling\u00a0with a Pacific Islander group, I am not sure how familiar they are with this\u00a0dessert and decided to introduce them to\u00a0it.\u00a0\u00a0For this purpose, I bought my two favorites of peanut\u00a0butter and oreo to share with them, pictured here. \u00a0I’m hoping they like this American-style mochi as much as I do!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
