*UPS – PUBLIC AFFAIRS MANAGER FOR JAPAN*<\/p>\n
*Summary*
\nThe Public Affairs Manager for Japan manages organization’ s public affairs
\nefforts for Japan. This person works as a team player with both the Japan
\ncountry staff and the international public affairs function to provide
\nguidance to senior management in setting the short- and long-term public
\naffairs objectives that are necessary to achieve profits, growth and other
\ngoals of the organization. Then, the Public Affairs Manger is responsible
\nfor leading the team effort to meet those objectives. This person achieves
\nthe desired results through the use of contacts (internal and external),
\nresearch and efficient decision-making.<\/p>\n
*Responsibilities *
\n\u00b7 Develops and implements Public Affairs’ program on behalf of UPS
\nfor Japan.
\n\u00b7 Provides advice and counsel to UPS senior management, concerning
\nall public affairs issues.
\n\u00b7 Builds and maintains a network of public and private sector
\nindividuals to achieve Public Affairs priorities.
\n\u00b7 Identifies issues of importance to the company and the industry
\nand, working with appropriate management, governmental and diplomatic
\ncontacts in shaping positions for UPS on these issues and, as warranted,
\nmaking public those positions.
\n\u00b7 Provides speech and article writing support to senior management as
\nneeded.
\n\u00b7 Provides consistent flow of Public Affairs information throughout
\nthe organization.
\n**
\n*Skills Needed*
\n\u00b7 Team Player
\n\u00b7 Background in Policy Development\/ Negotiating Experience
\n\u00b7 Experience with Strategy Implementation
\n\u00b7 Capable\/Proven Decision Maker
\n\u00b7 Background to Advance New Policy Initiatives
\n\u00b7 Prior Government Experience (preferred)
\n\u00b7 Bilingual Skills (spoken and written)
\n\u00b7 Public Speaking Capabilities<\/p>\n
