{"id":10270,"date":"2010-01-20T21:34:25","date_gmt":"2010-01-21T01:34:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jetwit.com\/wordpress\/?p=10270"},"modified":"2010-02-10T20:13:25","modified_gmt":"2010-02-11T00:13:25","slug":"job-full-time-bilingual-esl-teacher-in-private-school-ct","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jetwit.com\/wordpress\/2010\/01\/20\/job-full-time-bilingual-esl-teacher-in-private-school-ct\/","title":{"rendered":"Job: Full-Time Bilingual ESL Teacher in Private School (CT)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gwjs.org\/\">The Greenwich Japanese Schoo<\/a><\/strong><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gwjs.org\/\">l<\/a><\/strong> is looking for a full-time bilingual ESL teacher. \u00a0The 1st through 9th graders at the small private school, located in Greenwich, Connecticut, are mostly Japanese expatriates who speak it as a first language. \u00a0The only class taught in English is the English as a Second Language class.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary: <\/strong>Commensurate with experience (salary range $40,000-$42,500); full fringe benefit package<br \/>\n<strong>Percent Time:<\/strong> 100% (Full-time)<br \/>\n<strong>Start Date:<\/strong> This position has a start date of April 5th2010<\/p>\n<p><strong>DUTIES:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Design, plan and conduct courses in English as a Second Language to elementary students.<\/li>\n<li>Design, plan and conduct English grammar courses (to be taught in Japanese) in accordance with the Japanese school curriculum to junior students.<\/li>\n<li>Design the course structure by selecting the materials to be used in the course\u00a0and the subject matter to be taught in the course within the framework of the\u00a0established ESL and Japanese curriculum guidelines.<\/li>\n<li>Plan and teach 20 classroom hours per week<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate student work in the courses taught and assign grades.<\/li>\n<li>Attend meetings (staff, level, skill area and professional development).<\/li>\n<li>Serve on program committees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>EDUCATION &#8211; Japanese Government English teaching certification, M.A. in Linguistics\/TESOL or equivalent combination of related education and experience.<\/li>\n<li>EXPERIENCE\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0Bi-lingual fluency (Japanese \/ English) at native or near-native proficiency. Previous English grammar teaching experience in Japanese public or private junior high school. Demonstrated excellence in teaching. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
