POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for developing, building, and managing new products as well as updating existing products to increase the local customer base with an eye towards increased profitability. This position is also responsible for helping to strategize on how to expand the company’s client base in the local market.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Primary Job Functions (80%)

Helps strategize on how to expand clientele in the local market

  • Provides ideas and strategies to expand the company’s presence in the local market.

Promotes Vacation Packages

  • Manages and maintains the contents of the land tour package website/hisgo up-to-date in order to maintain a user-friendly and attractive environment for local customers with an eye on increasing profitability.
  • Develops and publishes bi-annual catalogs of vacation packages with signature products from each destination offered.
  • Gathers information and photographs to complement each tour and uses various attractive media to pass them on to the customer.
  • Attends travel-related seminars and conventions to gather information.

Arranges Package Tours

  • Works and communicates with vendors and all HIS branches to make arrangements for hotels, sightseeing tours, transportation, meals, and other related package tours that customers request.
  • Plans tailor-made packages and itineraries in order to satisfy customer needs.
  • Creates detailed itineraries to provide customers.
  • Supports and participates in assigned package tours.
  • Responds and troubleshoots tour related questions from staff members.
  • Participates in FAM trips when necessary.

Assists and Sells B2B Sales

  • Builds new relationships with vendors both locally and internationally.
  • Develops, builds and manages HIS products to attract local customers by distilling applicable market research and creating or modifying existing packages to meet their specific needs and desires.
  • Updates contracts and rates with vendors at least twice a year and revises schedules, rates, and itineraries as needed.
  • Gathers and shares travel related information to the related sections.
  • Negotiates with hotels and vendors to purchase items at the lowest possible cost in order to create competitive products to increase the local market customer base.

Others

  • Performs any other related duties that are assigned by supervisors.

Secondary Job Functions (10%)

Other & Miscellaneous

  • Cultivates good relationships with HIS offices and vendors around the world.
  • Researches and tracks competitors’ products, prices, and promotionsc
  • Gains as much information on destination places.

Leads Group Tours

  • Leads motorcoach tours of group up to 50 customers
  • Handles emergency situations when necessary.

  • Contribute to Team Effort – Be flexible in work assignments by covering for your staff members as needed and assisting in the transition of new staff members

SCOPE OF JOB DUTIES

Essential Job Elements

Physical Requirements

  • The staff member must be able to read and analyse written information on a computer terminal. Close vision and the ability to adjust focus are necessary for this job.
  • The staff member must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time during group tours, as well as keep their energy up and have a positive attitude for the duration of the tour (up to 16 hours a day).
  • The staff member may occasionally lift, push, pull or move other objects of at least 15 pounds.

Working Conditions

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy (i.e. working in a business office with computers, printers and telephones).
  • The staff member must be able to travel on business or work beyond normal work hours when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience /Minimum Qualifications Needed

Language Skills

  • Read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and/or government regulations  in English and Japanese
  • Write reports, business correspondences, tour descriptions, and detailed itineraries in English and Japanese
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, staff, clients, customers, and the general public in English and Japanese

Mathematical Skills

  • Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages

Reasoning Abilities

  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to analyse information and solve problems on a complex level in various situations

Other Required Skills

  • Must be precise and pay attention to detail, while working swiftly under time constraints
  • Must be able to communicate accurately and respectfully with people from various countries/cultures
  • Must be tactful, mature, and flexible
  • Must have the ability to review, edit, and revise both words and numbers for a publication
  • Must have the ability to analyse and utilize complex excel sales reports
  • Must be able to use a computer and such applications as Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel

Other Recommended Skills

  • The ability to use basic html coding

Education

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and experience
