GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

This position entails a variety of responsibilities, including planning & overseeing itineraries for overseas clients, coordinating work between the Tokyo, Kanazawa and New York offices, meeting clients and assisting with various portions of trips, and participating in research and development of new products.

Your typical day will involve answering emails from clients, crafting custom itineraries, coordinating itinerary contents with reservation staff and occasionally attending client meet and greets.

As a travel consultant, you will need to utilize your strong communication skills and professionalism through daily interactions with clients and vendors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The below are the common responsibilities for travel consultants at The Art of Travel. From time to time, management may assign additional responsibilities.

  • Maintain regular communications with clients via e-mail & telephone
  • Craft itineraries based on clients’ input/desires
  • Coordinate with reservation staff to ensure accurate booking of itineraries
  • Resolve any tour problems in a quick and efficient manner
  • Act as a contact point for clients while they are touring Japan
  • Work with accounting to ensure accurate and timely receipt of payment from clients
  • Research new and interesting experiences for clients
  • Periodically be responsible for our evening and weekend emergency phone

QUALIFICATIONS & CHARACTERISTICS

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in travel planning, travel sales, and/or hospitality
  • Native or near native English language abilities
  • Strong communication skills, both spoken and written
  • Strong conversational Japanese language ability or higher
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and collaborate with other people
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines on high pressure tasks
  • Outgoing, positive, forward thinking attitude
  • Ability to empathize and relate to others, coworkers and customers.
  • Japanese travel agent license strongly preferred, but not required.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.

*Preference will be given to those with degrees in hospitality.

LOCATION

The position is open at either of our offices in Kanazawa city in Ishikawa prefecture, or Tokyo, to be decided later.

START DATE

Immediate start date preferred but not required

DEADLINE
