Halcyon, a non-profit in Georgetown, currently has openings for a part-time Grant Writer.

About the Position
Research, write and submit winning funding proposals.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Craft funding proposals in a clear and compelling manner
  • Assemble and submit grant proposals, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations to foundations and other grant‐making organizations, persuasively communicating the organization’s mission and programs to potential funders
  • Help establish and steward relationships with foundation contacts and program officers
  • Conduct robust prospect research
  • Maintain a calendar/spreadsheet to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports
  • Ensure prompt acknowledgment of foundation gifts
  • Prioritize projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner, meet deadlines and manage supplemental material required for proposals

Minimum Education Required 
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Creative Writing or other relevant fields.

Minimum Experience Required
Minimum of 3 years’ experience writing winning non-profit funding proposal.

Skills and Attributes 

  • Excellent research skills and familiarity with Foundation Center and other key research tools
  • Strong ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and self‐motivated
  • Enthusiasm for Halcyon’s mission
  • Experience in non‐profit community-based organization or business setting
  • Familiarity with donor management software
