Working with the co-directors of the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Study Center at Columbia, and reporting to the Director for Administration of the Center on Japanese Economy and Business (CJEB), the Program Manager is responsible for being independently managing programs and activities of the APEC Study Center, and lead CJEB’s public events and various paper series.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. In collaboration with the Director for Administration of CJEB, the Program Manager is responsible for conceptualizing, organizing and implementing APEC Study Center’s (ASC) international conferences, workshops, and lectures. This includes the development of program agendas and budget (including formation, negotiation, tracking, and reconciliation), correspondence with participants and attendees, and coordination with co-sponsoring departments and groups within Columbia.
2. Executes the full publication process of all ASC publications, including the Annual Report, conference reports, the APEC Discussion Paper Series and executes the publication process of CJEB event reports, and all CJEB Paper Series such as Working and Occasional Paper Series. This includes designing and creating the papers and posting them on the website. This also includes overseeing work by the Graduate Student Fellows, including approving timesheets.
3. Manages and improves the development of ASC database by assessing database needs and identifying ways to continually increase APEC’s exposure to a wider-range of audiences and followers; perform as a liaison and maintain vendor relationship between APEC Study Center and the database consultant to improve ASC database systems, as needed.
4. Manages and implements ASC’s annual report and various content and publishing material, including promotional e-mails, newsletters, and website materials to promote APEC’s mission to furthering Asia policy research. Develop and identify effective communication methods to further promote and expose APEC’s programming and content to wider-range of audience and constituents.
5. Manages APEC’s event and contact management system, ensuring all users are trained appropriately and the system is being used to its best functional ability. Will also initiate and oversee the completion, projects as needed, in coordination with APEC’s contracted consultant.
6. Act as a liaison between ASC, Columbia Business School, and Columbia Business School students with interest in Asian research and studies to further enrich the Business School community and student life by promoting APEC-sponsored events and providing educational resources.
7. Leads the coordination and handling of various lunch time seminars and large-scale conferences for CJEB. Oversees pre-event and post-event production tasks, making sure that quality and brand standards are being met, historical data is preserved and maintained, and mailing list constituents’ contact information is current.
8. Manages written communication to students, faculty, and CJEB core faculty to facilitate requests for information and promoting CJEB and APEC events and news.
9. Oversees the daily operation of APEC in coordination with CJEB’s Director for Administration. Ensures that materials are updated and maintained, report publications and subscriptions are renewed and circulated, and reviews current processes for improvement and efficiencies for CJEB and APEC.
10. Performs related work and special projects for CJEB’s Director for Administration, as needed. |
