The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program Office at the Embassy of Japan in Washington, DC is seeking to fill a part-time short-term contractor position within the JET Program Office, assisting with social media under the direction of JET Program Office coordinators.  The JET Program Office is part of the Public Affairs section of the Embassy of Japan.  Our role is to inform aspiring applicants about the JET Program, as well as the application and selection process.  We also seek to widen the audience of the JET Program through

The assistant will prepare posts on various social media platforms, research topics of interest for future posts, and create a schedule for posts.  S/he will also respond to inquiries on social media platforms, and perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple on-going projects
  • Experience with social media such as Facebook and Twitter

Preferred:

  • Prior participation on the JET Program

 Position Details

  • Please note that the Social Media Assistant is an independent contractor to the Embassy and will not be deemed an employee of the Embassy for any purpose whatsoever.
  • Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or a U.S. green card holder. 
  • Working hours will be approximately 12-20 hours per week (flexible) within the frame of 10AM – 5PM from Monday –Friday.
  • Term will be from late September through late November exact dates TBD
  • Work location will be the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program Office at the Embassy of Japan in Washington, DC
  • Does not include sick leave, health insurance, paid vacation.
  • Salary:  $12/hour
  • All candidates will be subject to background checks and security clearance.
