Position: UCD Global Center Representative

The post exists on a full time salary basis and activities take place under the general direction of UCD International’s Assistant Director for the  Americas and Study Abroad, as part of the North America Global Centre, an extension of the International Office in Dublin. The post is based in New York City.

Purpose

  • To contribute to on-site representation for University College Dublin in North America
  • To be a UCD point of contact in North America for applicants (undergraduate and graduate), partner institutions, and families
  • To engage in a range of activities that will contribute to the growth and development of full-degree and study abroad recruitment, admissions, and conversion in North America

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identifying, developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with UCD’s key high school and university partners in North America.
  • Co-ordinating and engaging in frequent High School and University visits and presentations in North America for the benefit of full-degree and study abroad recruitment.
  • Representing UCD at a variety of international recruitment fairs, conferences and meetings.
  • Assisting in the organization of visits by UCD staff to high schools and partner institutions in North America.
  • Ensuring, at all times, the delivery of a highly flexible, responsive and effective service to full-degree and study abroad students and their parents including the provision of information on UCD’s admissions criteria, eligibility for financial aid, applications processes and fee payment.
  • Providing a high level of customer service to high schools and partner institutions engaged in full-degree and study abroad programs with UCD.
  • Advising UCD staff on relevant legislative changes and other developments in North America that may have an impact on UCD’s full-degree and study abroad recruitment initiatives.
  • Contributing to the maintenance of accurate databases on student alumni and records of partnerships 
  • Provide verbal updates at the North America Global Centre’s meeting.
  • Provide monthly written report to the Assistant Director.
  • Occasional travel to Dublin for on-going training and university connectivity 
  • Undertake such other duties and special projects as may be required by the Assistant Director

As the activity areas of UCD North American Global Centre evolves, flexibility in relation to the work of the office may be necessary.  Accordingly, the list of responsibilities specified is not intended to be either exclusive or restrictive. The nature of the duties of this position will require occasional travel within the US and to Ireland and participation in activities outside regular working hours.

Selection Criteria: Selection criteria outline the qualifications, skills, knowledge and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post.  Applications will be assessed on the basis of how well candidates satisfy these criteria. 

Mandatory 

  • Minimum of 3-5 year work experience in the North American educational system, student recruitment or college admissions area
  • Third level qualification – 4 year degree
  • Proven ability in relationship management
  • High level of awareness of customer service
  • Flexibility regarding working hours and a willingness to travel extensively
  • Clean US drivers license
  • Good standard of numeracy, effective IT skills and attention to detail

Desirable

  • Familiarity with Ireland and willingness to gain knowledge of UCD programmes, processes and curriculum
  • Previous experience of study overseas

Salary: Negotiable
