Who We Are: This position is being offered through the Research Foundation for SUNY at the New York Center for Collaborative Online International Learning Center (COIL Center) in New York, NY. The COIL Center is a leader in the emerging field of collaborative online international learning, a teaching and learning methodology that fosters exchange between faculty and students with peers abroad through Internet-based communication tools. The COIL Center has created a model for supporting professors to develop co-taught multi-cultural learning environments which emphasize experiential collaborative learning between students in two or more countries. The classes may be fully online or taught in blended formats with face-to-face sessions at both schools, while collaborative student work takes place online.

 

Who We Seek: The Operations Coordinator will contribute to the success of COIL Center projects by providing professional-level administrative, logistical and operational support. They will manage administrative aspects of projects, events, and activities connected to our Nodal Network of SUNY campuses and parallel Global Partner Network of international institutions, as well as for the COIL Center’s international consultancy projects. Additionally they will assist with organization and administration of the COIL Center’s annual international conference. They will contribute to the content and resources available, as well as community building activities on the COIL Center’s websites.

 

Required Qualifications:

•        Baccalaureate or equivalent required

•        At least two years providing administrative support in a higher education context

•        Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills

•        Strong attention to detail with organizational and project-management skills

•        Capacity to prioritize, show initiative and handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision

•        Ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively with a variety of stakeholders

•        Aptitude using a variety of software, particularly Word, Excel, and online communication tools

•        Willingness to travel in New York and infrequently abroad to provide logistical support at events

 

Preferred Qualifications:

•        Continuous employment at a position for two or more years during the past five years

•        Academic conference or event planning experience

•        Experience working in an international education-focused office setting

•        Familiarity with instructional design concepts & learning management systems

•        Past involvement in the organization and preparation of grant proposals and reports

•        Master’s or other equivalent degree preferred

 

Key Responsibilities will include:

General Responsibilities:

•        Support administration and operation of COIL Center projects at SUNY and abroad

•        Manage business affairs including preparation of approval documents, invoicing, payments, etc.

•        Organization and administration of the COIL Center’s annual conference including:

•        Coordinate booking of meeting rooms, hotels, transport, catering, etc.

•        Ensure all invoices are received, vendors are paid and travelers are timely reimbursed

•        Help generate COIL Center marketing materials (e.g. brochures, website content, etc.)

•        Maintain COIL Center’s electronic mailing list

•        Contribute to content, resources and community building activities on website & other venues

•        Other duties and general administrative tasks as assigned

Nodal Network (NN) and Global Partner Network (GPN) Responsibilities:

•        Maintain ongoing correspondence with NN/GPN Campus Coordinators and other stakeholders

•        Facilitate communication and exchange among NN and GPN members on COIL Center websites

•        Organize online and in-person meetings, and visits to potential/existing NN and GPN campuses

•        Coordinate travel and accommodation bookings for professional development participants

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS/ STUDY ABROAD

Whittier College invites interested and qualified candidates for the Assistant Director of International Programs/Study Abroad. The Assistant Director is responsible for overseeing semester international education programming at Whittier College. The Assistant Director manages the program caseload by advising students on study abroad options, policies and procedures, arranging information sessions, conducting pre-departure and re-entry orientations/programs, tracking student interest, managing the Whittier College semester study abroad application process, and answering inquiries. The Assistant Director also manages registration of students abroad, formulates office policies in conjunction with Director and senior administration, suggests/develops new program relationships, and maintains existing relationships with third-party program providers and exchange institutions. The Assistant Director oversees the supervision of any graduate assistants, student interns, POET interns, student workers and Poet Global Ambassadors either employed by or volunteering with the Office of International Programs.

Position Status: Full-Time, 10 or 11 month schedule
Exempt/Non-Exempt Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $38,000 – $45,000. Salary will commensurate with experience, skills and knowledge

Position Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Recruitment: The Assistant Director is responsible for leading the recruitment effort for semester study abroad programs. Visits classes and hosts information tables, study abroad fairs, etc. to educate students on various study abroad options.
2. Study Abroad students: Works with pre-study abroad students through the Whittier College and third party provider program and outbound exchange application process. Provides detailed advice to students on programs, reviewing application materials and answering any questions the student may have. Serves as primary advisor on curricular and program options for academic year or semester programs. Oversees the enrollment forms of current study abroad students are received by the Registrar to ensure the student receives credit for courses taken while abroad. Works in conjunction with the Registrar, Business Office and Financial Aid to ensure the student does not have any holds on their account and can register for classes upon their return. Maintains day-to-day access to Study Abroad database (Poet World Portal).
3. Program Development and Maintenance: Suggests/develops new program relationships, maintains existing relationships with third-party program providers in consultation with the Director. Conducts site visits and reviews and updates agreements for semester programs and outbound exchange in consultation with the Director.
4. Liaison to Faculty Regarding International Programs: Works with faculty to promote international education. Works with faculty members who serve on the Study Abroad Committee to determine which students are accepted, waitlisted or denied for semester programs.
5. Global Poet Ambassador Program: Manage the Poet Global Ambassador Program for returned study abroad students and F-1 visa holders as a means to engage students in global citizen leadership development, volunteer service to the Office of International Programs and analysis of intercultural sensitivity development.
6. Management of Risk and Crises: In consultation with the Director of International Programs and/or the Senior International officer, is responsible for risk management oversight for semester programs, oversight of operations of crises management procedures for semester study abroad activities, answers questions regarding health and safety and financial arrangements of semester programs, and is available 24/7 by cell phone and email in case of emergencies or issues when students are abroad.
7. Budget Responsibilities: Manages annual semester study abroad budget approval and tracking of expenditures, monthly reconciliation
8. Outbound Exchange Students: Works with the College’s current exchange programs to maintain beneficial relationships between the schools. Works with senior administration and faculty to develop new and relevant relationships with other universities.
9. Liaison to other WC offices: Works throughout the year with various administrative offices to ensure clear communication and smooth process for all involved with semester study abroad and outbound exchanges.
10. Representation to various committees and off-campus groups: Actively participate in various international education associations, serves on advisory boards and is an active contributor to the professional field of international education.

Position Specifications & Requirements:
Previous Experience:
*         3-5 years of experience  working in international programs is preferred
*         Experience living abroad is preferred
*         Experience working productively with faculty, administration, students, parents and international programs staff at universities in US and abroad
*         Experience with Terra Dotta/StudioAbroad is preferred
*         Requires ability to manage multiple priorities at once and demonstrated problem-solving skills
*         DSO/SEVP knowledge and experience is preferred
*
Knowledge and Education:
*         Master’s Degree preferred
*         Strong written and verbal communication skills
*         Knowledge of Microsoft Office
*         Website creation and maintenance (preferred)
*         Internet research skills

The University of South Dakota seeks a Coordinator to lead the redesign, launch, and delivery of its intensive English program (IEP). The Coordinator will work alongside other international education and student success professionals in the Center for Academic & Global Engagement, the Department of English, and University Admissions.

The successful candidate will lead the IEP at USD by working under the supervision of the Director of the Center assuming primary responsibility for the following areas:

Program Administration
o Assist in the development of curriculum, teaching materials, and program procedures.
o Coordinate and organize program components including, but not limited to, housing, student services, billing and collection, and new student orientations.

o Identify grant or other funding opportunities in support of the university’s missions and goals of the IEP.

Personnel
o Oversee the hiring, professional development, and retention of instructors.
o Provide leadership, direction, and motivation for IEP instructors, and the program’s overall growth and development.

Years of Experience: Minimum 3-4 years of previous administrative, customer service, client relations management, or program management experience in a cultural exchange, educational, or international relations environment. Prior SEVIS experience preferred
