The Institute for Shipboard Education (ISE) is seeking a Director of
Academic and Field Programs for its Semester at Sea program.  The Director
will be located at ISE’s Fort Collins, Colorado office. The Institute is
transitioning to Colorado State University (CSU) from its current location
in Virginia and requires a versatile and skilled academic administrator who
can assist with the transition and work with a small but dynamic management
team in Fort Collins.*THE POSITION*
The Director will work directly with the ISE Chief Academic Officer (CAO)
as well as the Senior Academic Officer (SAO) for Semester at Sea, a joint
hire between ISE and the new academic partner, Colorado State University
(CSU). The Director will assist with the reorganization and revitalization
of the academic and field programs, with particular attention to student
learning outcomes.*General Responsibilities*

– Serve as the Fort Collins liaison for managing the transition of the
ISE office from Virginia to Colorado.
– Assist in managing the Fort Collins office.
– Serve as the initial point of contact with Colorado State University

*Academic Program Responsibilities*
Working with the CAO and the SAO the Director will:

*Field Program Responsibilities*

– Supervise all field program personnel in Fort Collins and
Charlottesville and on board the ship.
– Manage all aspects of program planning and development, including:

– In conjunction with tour operators and other in-country partners, create
and implement innovative field programs.
– Plan academic field labs with the SAO, the Academic Deans, and voyage
faculty.
– Create field program marketing and database information to support
pre-voyage and on-board participation.
– Ensure that all field programs are vetted for cost, risk management and

– Advanced degree in a relevant discipline
– Five to seven years of progressively more responsible program

Required: Master’s degree (or a bachelor’s degree plus three or more years of relevant experience that addresses most or all of the job functions listed above). Candidate must be able to create and maintain positive relationships with a broad array of CICE constituents, including faculty, staff, students, students’ family members, and program partners. Flexibility, resourcefulness, organizational skills, excellence in oral and written communication, and initiative in both individual and team projects will be necessary. International/intercultural experience (experience living, working, volunteering, or studying in international and/or intercultural settings) is essential. The coordinator will also need advising experience and must be proficient in the use of both databases and Microsoft software.

Preferred: A master’s degree in international education (or a closely related field). Experience in the field of international education and a working knowledge of Terra Dotta’s Studio Abroad software and the Adobe creative software are also preferred.
