Position: Marketing Assistant – Japanese Investors

Status: Maximum of 28 hours per week

Overview: UKTI Japan Marketing team is responsible for developing and communicating messages to potential and existing Japanese Investors about the key strengths of the UK as an Investment destination. UK Trade & Investment is the UK Government Department which helps UK companies export around the world, and assists foreign companies set up their operations in the UK. The aim of the role is to: 

  • Provide support to the Marketing Delivery Manager on events, marketing & digital 
  • Provide support to the Marketing team and UKTI colleagues on contents, partners 
  • Provide support for Operations 

The internships are designed for those who want to learn more about how an Embassy works. This includes learning how we help business and support British nationals living in Japan. It is ideal for those who wish to broaden their skills and experience in a real-world environment. The internships will provide you with a unique experience and in-depth understanding of the British Government’s work in business, and Economic Diplomacy (Science & Innovation/Climate Change & Energy/Economic & Trade Policy). 

Successful candidates will be enthusiastic, quick learners with the ability to work with minimum oversight and challenge the status quo. Candidates should be looking to stretch themselves in a new environment. 

A proven ability to undertake research work is an advantage, along with strong oral and written communication and IT skills. We will consider applications from those both with and without formal work experience. The work is likely to involve a mixture of policy and administrative tasks 

Responsibilities:

  • Administration support – e.g. translation, customer pipeline, marketing collateral 
  • Research of Japanese business audience and potential for UK-Japan markets 
  • Design creative presentations with the latest market information, via Prezi etc. 
  • Support regular communications to UK Exporters through newsletters/campaigns 
  • Support for wider teams at events when required 
  • Manage marketing collateral with Marketing Support Officer 

Requirements: Native-level or JLPT Level 1 Japanese to a high standard and fluency in spoken and written English. Ideally available to come in to the office 3-4 days a week and can commit to the full term of the internship.
