The Office of International Services (OIS) supports the mission of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio by promoting international education. The OIS also advocates on behalf of the international students and scholars both within the university and to federal regulatory agencies to ensure that they are afforded every opportunity to complete their educational, research, and/or professional objectives. The International Services Representative in the OIS reports to the Director and performs the following duties: Prepare visa applications for as well as engages in direct advising of international students and scholars with limited supervision. Advise and educate international students, exchange visitors, researchers, medical residents and fellows, faculty, staff, and academic units on federal immigration regulations.
Serve as official liaison to governmental agencies and ensure compliance with immigration regulations. Prepare and submit appropriate employment-based visa applications to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Department of State and Department of Labor for divisions and/or employees of the institution. Plan and implement social, cultural adjustment, intercultural exchange (including with community), and educational programs and services for international students and scholars. Develop, plan, and conduct workshops to educate on current U.S. immigration regulations and compliance. Develop and maintain relationships with schools and colleges regarding their international faculty, staff, scholars and exchange visitor requirements. Maintain knowledge of U.S. immigration regulations. Research and analyze various immigration matters and determine the appropriate visa options.

Preferred Qualifications:

*1 year of experience required must be as an international student and/or scholar advisor (or equivalent) in an international services office at an institution of higher education or as an immigration paralegal or immigration legal assistant.)

To be a Designated School Official (DSO) or Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO), per federal regulations, applicant must be U.S. citizen or U.S. lawful permanent resident.

Ability to work some evening and/or weekend events as necessary.

This position requires:

Knowledge and understanding of U.S. immigration laws, regulations, and agency policies;

Knowledge of the structure and bureaucratic processes involved in the day-to-day functions of a university;

The University of Florida International Center, Study Abroad Services, is seeking applicants for the position of Director of Study Abroad.

The successful candidate would direct the division of Study Abroad Services within the University of Florida (UF) International Center (UFIC), working as part of the UFIC management team led by the UFIC Dean and the Executive Director. He/she will manage a team consisting of an assistant director of study abroad and five study abroad advisors (reporting to the assistant director) and will participate in the advising process. Other responsibilities will include working directly with faculty members, department chairs, deans, and other administrators to develop innovative study abroad programs that complement and enhance the existing program portfolio. The Director will also work collaboratively with the UFIC division of Undergraduate Academic Programs in developing programs supporting of UF’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), “Learning without Borders: Internationalizing the Gator Nation”.

In addition, the ideal candidate would also be responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures for study abroad and exchange programs. He/she will serve as part of team led by the UFIC Office of Global Engagement to identify and prepare grant proposals for study abroad enhancements and to link study abroad development to faculty initiatives. The Director will set policies and procedures for the development of study abroad program budgets, working closely with the UFIC Business Manager and the Coordinator of Accounting and will participate in deliberations on the creation of new innovative types of programs, such as “incoming study abroad programs”, with UF serving as the host institution for international students.

Minimum Requirements are a Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

Preferred Qualifications are an advanced degree (MA or PhD) in International Education or a related field. Previous experience in study abroad programming and advising and/or working in international higher education programs. Experience in living or studying abroad. Strong knowledge of current international contexts as well as of trends in international program development. Knowledge of intercultural communication and exchange. Excellent communication and supervisory skills. Advanced competence in a second language. Dynamic personality capable of motivating students and encouraging study abroad participation. Ability to work with minimal supervision as part of a dynamic team dedicated to promoting and enhancing the University’s international engagements.

Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Master’s degree with related international student programming experience is preferred. The Office of International Affairs at Texas Tech University is seeking dedicated and dynamic candidates for the position of Study Abroad Director. This position reports to the Senior Director for International Education and Enrollment Management, and supervises a full-time staff of 4. Work is performed collaboratively with colleagues on campus and with partner institutions to ensure coordination, compliance and smooth operation of international programs. The Director is responsible for managing a fiscally sound program that is financially self-sustaining.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

* Directs and supervises all study abroad office operations including program design; resource allocation; website and database systems; promotion of study abroad; staff recruitment, hiring, training and retention. Oversees the study abroad process including marketing, application, orientation, safety and liability issues, academic credit and evaluation. Oversees development, administration, and evaluation of reciprocal exchange, affiliated and faculty-led programs.
* Assists department campus-wide to offer relevant study abroad programs for their students. Implements a transparent process for program approval of faculty-led, affiliate and reciprocal exchange programs. Advocates for international educational experiences and serves as the principal liaison with the faculty and departments to integrate international experiences into the curricula. Assists faculty in developing and maintaining faculty-led programs.
* In coordination with the Sr. Director for International Education and Enrollment Management collaborates with the Director of the TTU Center in Seville to develop, administer, and evaluate the Center activities.
* Coordinates with other university departments to develop, implement, and revise policies and procedures regarding study abroad programs at TTU.
* Designs and implements a strategic plan for the Study Abroad unit that supports the goals of the Office of International Affairs and the University.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.

* Ability to communicate in a language other than English.

* Experience with StudioAbroad, marketing, and website design.

* Experience developing international partnerships through affiliate and reciprocal exchange agreements.

* Thorough knowledge of study abroad best practices, especially in the area of risk management and faculty-led programs.

* Demonstrated ability to work with faculty to develop new study abroad programs.

* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other offices on campus to develop university policy and procedures for study abroad.

* Should have extensive experience studying/living/working abroad and the ability to work with people from other cultures.

* Should be active in the Forum on Education Abroad and/or NAFSA: Association for International Educators and use these organizations to keep abreast of developments in the field.

The Center for Global Education and Experience (CGEE) at Augsburg College seeks applicants for the position of CGEE Site Director, Southern Africa, based at our center in Windhoek, Namibia. The Center’s mission is to provide cross-cultural education opportunities that develop critical thinking skills for analyzing local and global conditions so that personal and systemic change takes place leading to a more just and sustainable world.  The Center offers an undergraduate semester program that develops the theme, “Nation Building, Globalization and Decolonizing the Mind.”  Several short-term travel seminars are also coordinated every year.  Programs draw students from colleges and universities throughout the US.

The Site Director will provide overall leadership and oversee daily operational aspects for the CGEE Southern Africa Site, based in Namibia, with programming in South Africa.  Duties include: staff supervision, budget management, program assessment and development, compliance with Augsburg and Namibian regulations/laws/policies, teach semester courses, and lead customized programming as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:
•       Provide leadership in making site based decisions regarding budget, personnel, policies, schedules and strategic planning.
