Position: Cultural Affairs and Public Relations Assistant

The Public Relations and Culture Department of the Consulate General of Japan in Miami has an opening for aCultural Affairs and Public Relations Assistant. The ideal candidate will be excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills in team planning, public speaking and presenting are required.

JOB DUTIES:

Coordinate all aspects of the JET (Japan Exchange & Teaching ) Program and Japanese Government Scholarship Program
Draft power-point presentations and talking points for officials
Speech editing and writing for officials
Research and report on a number of Japan related educational and cultural items in Florida
Visit local schools and present about Japanese culture
Updating the consulate’s website
Coordinate and assist other Consulate staff with any team projects, events, mass distributions and other duties
Any other general administrative duties

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree
Native English
Strong writing, research and organization skills
Knowledge of html code, and web editing software
Knowledge of Japanese culture, society and/or prior work experience in a Japanese company or organization will be a strong advantage. Japanese language ability will also be an advantage.
Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and overnight trips
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
