Position: Digital Commuications

Responsibilities
  • Write and create engaging content including short videos interviews, motion-graphic pieces, topical articles and more for the website and bi-monthly e-newsletters.
  • Improving web presence through engaging visuals and layout, supported by tools like Google Analytics to assess and improve user experience.
  • Manage the back-end of the Council’s public website including the Content Management System (CMS), domain names, CSS, etc.
  • Manage the back-end of salesforce.com.
  • Develop and execute a social media marketing strategy across the Council’s Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts and carefully monitor analytics to measure results.
  • Create online event registration and donation pages and administer online surveys.
  • Develop and implement A/V and social media plans to support programs and events, including multi-day, off-site conferences.
  • Manage all photography and videography including photographing events, contracting professional photographers/videographers for the Annual Conference, coordinating photography at regional USJC events and editing and uploading all photos to the Council’s online galleries.
  • Manage merchandise and signage for organization
  • Support communications and marketing efforts related to the TOMODACHI Initiative.
  • Provide basic software program training to staff as needed (e.g. – Dropbox, NationBuilder, salesforce) and evaluate and purchase new software programs as needed.
  • Design Annual Report and Conference Program; create graphics, logos, style sheets, fliers, invitations, fact sheets and more.
  • Provide general support for tech matters to the USJC staff, including those based in Tokyo and Los Angeles.
  • Introducing new software solutions to support communications, programs, event planning, development, and membership management.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years media/communications/web experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in digital communications, IT or other related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Expertise in creating content for online media including web sites, videos, infographics, photography, etc.
  • Web content development skills: Basic HTML, CSS; experience publishing and updating web content using Content Management Systems (CMS)
  • Experience using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social media platforms for professional purposes
  • Understanding of web and social media measurement and analytics
  • Experience creating e-newsletters using programs such as NationBuilder, Constant Contact, Mailchimp, Wired for Change or Vertical Response
  • Microsoft Office and Google application skills (Word, Excel, Publisher, Google documents, analytics, etc.)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with attention to detail
  • Experience with graphic design software such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Publisher
  • Experience with online databases (preferred)
  • Interest in and experience with U.S.-Japan relations (preferred)
  • Fluent written Japanese (preferred)
