Job Description:

The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive.  Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.

  • Assists Instructional Designers in organizing and coordinating the distance learning activities at WKU
  • Creates instructional multimedia used for online learning management systems, websites, CD and DVD-ROMS, presentations, live video/web streaming, pod casts, and/or other materials utilizing instructional technology tools, strategies, and resources
  • Produces, edits, and compresses audio and video for multiple delivery formats
  • Researches and recommends the purchase of multimedia software, hardware, and equipment
  • Manages the inventory of, and maintains multimedia equipment in Distance Learning including studio equipment
  • Trains faculty members and staff in the use of various multimedia software, web conferencing software, hardware, learning management systems, and audio/video production equipment based on their specific needs and goals
  • Conducts on-going evaluations of instructional multimedia technology and assists in maximizing their development and use
  • Performs tasks that include technical course setup, populating platforms with content, proofing and text editing, as well as consulting on Instructional Design and best practices for online learning
  • Partners with Instructional Designer and Instructional Technologist as needed to develop documents, timelines, and supplemental materials for faculty
  • Assists faculty members in the use of course management software and multi-media recording equipment
  • Follows standard instructional design practices to create online instructional content that effectively engages students

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participates and assists in the delivery of workshops and walk-in training events related to faculty development
  • Oversees activities of student workers and graduate assistants
  • Provides periodic reports on instructional design activities at WKU
  • Other duties as assigned

 Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, adult education, or a related discipline
  • Two years of experience working with multimedia in an educational environment
  • Experience and/or demonstrated knowledge in video capture and production for use in an educational environment
  • Experience and/or demonstrated knowledge working with web technologies and software
  • Experience and/or demonstrated knowledge of e-learning software and web technologies and coding (e.g. HTML and Adobe Products)
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience and/or demonstrated knowledge interpreting client needs and assisting them in the production of instructional materials
  • Experience and/or demonstrated knowledge with graphic design elements appropriate for instruction
  • Experience and/or demonstrated knowledge with ADA 508 regulations
