Position: Admissions Counselor

Overview:

This position is split between two key areas at SU Abroad – Summer Programs and World Partner semester) Programs. The Admissions Counselor will respond to inquiries, advise students, screen applications, assist with visa processing, and recruit prospective students.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Excellent time management and communication skills (both oral and written.)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office(especially Excel) and database systems.
  • Intercultural awareness/sensitivity.
  • Study or travel abroad experience required.
  • Experience in study abroad/international educationl/higher education admissions office preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel/Microsoft Office and admissions databases (i.e. StudioAbroad.) Prior experience with budgets. Attention to detail and accuracy is essential.

Responsibilities: 

  • Respond to inquiries (email, phone, in person) and process applications for Summer and World Partner (semester) programs.
  • Coordinate application review with faculty directors.
  • Distribute post-acceptance information in a timely manner, including specific program details and pre-departure/preparing to go materials.
  • Research visa requirements and communicate that information to students, assisting with visa processing and delivery to consulates and students.
  • Participate in pre-departure orientation meetings and respond to questions from students and parents. Finalize group flights and travel details.
  • Work with various University offices and personnel, including Registrar, Disability Office, Bursar, etc. to ensure coordination and accurate transfer of information/records.
  • Assist with reconciling final student accounts to match PeopleSoft system. Work with SU Abroad Budget Analyst to reconcile program fee and operating expenditures.
  • Participate in recruitment efforts, including information meetings and class presentations, flyer distribution, mass mailings, and off-campus study abroad fairs.
  • Other duties as requested.
