Position: Research Assistant
Location: 
Washington, DC
Type: Full-Time

Overview: 

This position is responsible for supporting the Senior Manager by researching, analyzing and reporting on a wide range of economic and political issues and creating presentations and reports, in Japanese and English.  This position reports to both the General Manager and Senior Manager of the Washington DC office and works under general supervision.

  • Obtain information from various sources and provide summaries and brief reports.
  • This work shall focus primarily, but not exclusively, on economic and political issues that may affect Mitsui’s business.
  • Attend conferences and meetings, monitor various publications, and obtain additional information to support the above functions.
  • Respond to requests for information/analysis.
  • Support Senior Manager in creation of presentations and reports using variety of software (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Bloomberg, etc.).
  • Assist logistics and research coordination.
  • Participate in other projects such as business development and public affairs as requested by managers.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelors degree.  Fluent in English and Japanese, spoken and written.
  • Ability to learn quickly about wide range of economic, political and foreign policy issues , primarily related to the U.S., Canada and Latin America.
  • Excellent computer skills and software familiarity.
  • Excellent research, analysis, writing and overall communications skills.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.  Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Interest in international affairs and international business.
  • Ability to handle several assignments at same time and manage short deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-cultural environment.
