Overall purpose
To lead and manage the Japan Sales Team, and co-develop and implement in collaboration with the Marketing Team and Medical Team the Annual Business Plan for all Shire products within Japan.  This will include setting annual sales targets, implementing agreed sales and marketing strategies and tactics, developing and monitoring sales activity targets, and ensuring that sales targets are achieved.  Also responsible for recruiting, developing, and retaining the Sales Team

Responsibilities
As a member of the Shire Japan Management Team, and in collaboration with local and global team colleagues:

•Achieve the budgeted sales of all Sales Team promoted products, and any future Shire Japan products and to ensure expenses are managed in line with budget and forecast expectations
•Provide sales input into the Japan Annual Business Plan, marketing strategy, and long range planning process. Through this develop and communicate in a timely manner the Annual National Sales Plan
•Work with the various marketing and medical teams to co-develop an integrated Sales, Marketing, and Medical Brand Plan each year. Drive and champion the Sales Plans and strategies within the Sales Team.
•Work with the Sales Team and Marketing Team to develop Annual Territory Sales Plans.  Ensure monthly review of national and territory plans and prepare monthly reports.  Ensure territories are working through updated Key Account Management Plans where appropriate.
•Manage, motivate, and develop the Sales Team in Japan though coaching, directing and setting a clear focus. This will include setting annual sales targets, annual bonus recognition programme, and reviewing progress vs target on a monthly basis.
•Ensure that all target customers are seen regularly by the right people with the right messages.  This will be achieved through monitoring and reporting on sales activity and ensuring that the Sales Team are highly trained in product marketing strategy, disease area knowledge, sales process, and any additional areas required for the Sales Team to excel in their role. Drive the development of Sales Call scripts and ensure that the Detail Aid (Sales Aid) is relevant to the Sales Team and is routinely used in the field.
•Manage twice yearly internal Sales Meetings with input from the Marketing Team.

Education & Experience

Essential
•A bioscience degree or similar qualification
•A background in sales with a minimum of 10 years experience in pharmaceutical sales
•Current hospital sales management experience with a minimum of 5 years sales management experience (either national or regional teams)

Desirable

•A business degree
•Previous experience in a niche market
